Another ale fermented with Montmorency cherries, Poolside is a light bodied wheat ale that blends clove and tart cherry flavors for a summer session beer.

On tap at Eccentric Cafe. Not a whole lot for cherries. Funky breadyness. Clove and banana. A nice hefe, little bit of dunkelweizen malt character.

On draught at Gallo’s Tap Room. The beer is a murky reddish-orange color with a thin white head that diminishes slowly. Thin rings of lacing. Aroma of wheat, cherries and yeast. Light, clean body with a tart cherry character and flavors of wheat and mild yeast. The finish is fruity with a banana and cherry aftertaste. A somewhat run-of-the mill beer overall.

Pours a cloudy orange-yellow color. Muted aroma, but some clear cherries and clove in the nose. Not overly carbonated, smooth, medium bodied with a lasting finish. Sweet and tart cherries in the flavor. An outstanding summer wheat beer. Full of complexity. Refreshing!

Pours hazy dark orangish with a thin wispy white head. Notes of tart wheat, citric and lightly acidic, cherry, light fruits, pear and sweet bready malt. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Serving: Draft at Fireworks.
It pours a damn near opaque reddish orange. This shit is cloudy. There is a slight foamy head. The nose is a mix of strong wheat notes, dust, and sour cherries. Very unusual. The taste has a slight metallic twinge at first, but it eventually passes. There is a dry wheat character with some lemon, yeast, sour cherries, and a slight malt sweetness. Bizarre! The body is light with almost excessive carbonation and a medium, clean finish. This beer leaves me wondering what to think. Is it wheat? Is it fruit? Is it sour? It’s all of the above and I kind of like it!

Hazy orange-caramel with big, foamy, white head / Nose of wheat and spice / Light body, tart with a hint of sweetness, with decent malts matching good, lightly, bitter finish / Big flavors of wheat with notes of lemon, cherries, and grain spice / An elegant and subtle fruit beer.

On tap at Hopcat (Grand Rapids, MI). Hopcat 25 Bells tap event for RBSG kickoff! Pours a hazy murky golden hue, a touch of orange. Aromas are a good clove base, touch of herry, banana esters move in with wheat bread, wheaty bitterness, smooth sweetness. Initial is a bit of sweet cherries, faint tartness, banana and pear. Wheat bread, light malty sweetness. Decent summer wheat beer

Served on draft at Hopcat in Grand Rapids, and labeled there just as Poolside Pale Wheat. Pours a pale orange color with a medium creamy head. Good head retention . Nice lacing. The aroma is bready and spicy with caramel and faint fruity notes. The taste is tart fruity notes, bread and spice. Medium bodied, Quite tart and fairly interesting beer.

Draft pint at International Tap House-Soulard. Pours a hazy, dull orange with reddish tints and a small, resilient white head. Aroma of tart cherries, wheat, and yeast. The cherries struck me right away in the flavor, too, which also has bready malts, yeast, wheat, and some mild spice along the lines of coriander. Medium-bodied, with a tart, bready mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Decent wheat ale, easy to drink and sessionable.

Guest draft at Revolution. Pours a cloudy pink/orange with an off white head. Nose is mellow with wheat and cherries. Good cherry flavor, almost a little bit of orange and other citrus, and good wheat flavor to match. Interesting and tasty.
