Draft… RBSG 2010… Cloudy golden ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Heavy banana and clove in the bouquet, but no raspberries. Medium to full-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and tickling carbonation. The flavor is quite tangy, fruity and sweet. Here is where I really pick up the raspberries. Medium-dry finish.

pint at Tyler’s Apex. Ok aroma, little sour, little fruity, cherry....Clean orange color, good head and lace. sweet and sour flavor. Lite body, creamy mouthfeel, dry clean finish. Well, looked great, aroma got a tad better as warmed, nothing grabbing me with it though....

On tap at Bell’s last weekend. Pours a very, very cloudy yellow color with a pinkish tint. There is a spot or two of lacing as it goes down, but that’s about it. The nose brings some light cherry and a bit of wheat. The flavor has a mild cherry tartness and plenty of wheat and grain. The feel is slightly chalky with a light to medium body and low carbonation. Decent enough, but too thick for my taste. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 06-28-2011

On tap at the the eccentric cafe. Real murky red amber with small head. Grainy fake cherry sweet aroma with some wheat. Glavor is drier than expected cherry with grain and that same syrup fruit flavor, slight sour. as well. Medium, lightly carbonated body. Okay.

Sample at Gallo’s. Hazy orange to pink pour with a thin white head. Aroma of banana, clove and a bit of cherry. Banana flavor with clove and wheat before a semi tart cherry finish.

In short: A stinky/barnyard Raspeberry Ale.
How: Tap at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe
The look: Cloudy golden orange body with a medium white head
In long: Nose of horse blanket and raspberries. Body is fully, very fluffy. Something in the mouthfeel and also the taste of that beer reminds me of a mousse raspberries yogurt (you know, the not-creamy fluffy type). That horse blanket nose is a bit too much, almost stinky. But thankfully the taste has only barnyard notes. Overall taste has raspberries but also a surprising strong strawberries presence, a lot of wheat, barnyard, wet dog fur. Not so fruity and very little in the way of dry sourness for a so-called raspberry ale. This is a weak effort by Bell’s that shows us that this excellent brewery doesn’t not always get it right, this Rapberry Wheat is a Bell’s Poor Side.

Hazy pink grapefruit juice colored beer with a thin white head. The nose had some of the cherries and a little bit of wood. There is also some dry wood. The taste has some cherry and a little bit of bread crust. A slightly spicy clove taste especially in the finish. good for the style, too bad I have never met a fruit wheat that I really liked.

On draft as poolside ale. Looks like a wheat ale and has a nice sweet aroma. However, one tast and the cherry flavor comes out. Tart cherry undertone with a light straw type taste.

Poured a cream/orange color from the tap. Very similar to a hefeweizen in consistency and flavor. Almost vinegar finish.
