Pours a deep brown with red highlights and a thick foamy tan head. Leaves a generous lace. Nice oasted malt aroma: dark fruits licorice, but it doesn’t last. Flavor begins with the berries and licorice, mostly a cereal-oriented pale malt backbone and then finishes with some bittersweet chocolate. Thin to medium body, nicely effervescent in the mouth.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a dark red-brown body, topped by a dark tan head of thick, rocky foam. Aroma was light, with roasted coffee being the predominate note. Mouth feel is smooth, with a light carbonation, and a bitter flavor that peaks quickly then subsides, giving way to the roasted malted coffee palate that is indicative of the style, finally leaving a slightly sweet stickiness on the lips. A proper porter.

Pours dark mahogany with a 2-3 finger fluffy reddish tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee beans, caramel, lots of roast, toasted grain, grainy malt, a light herbal quality and a touch of smokey char. Flavor is roast, milk chocolate, toasted grain, honey, and light coffee to start. In the middle I find the chocolate qualities becoming more subtle but bitter at the same time adding some dark burnt sugar, this allows the roast and herbal hops to shine, leading into a roast, coffee and char finish. Palate is medium and slightly sticky throughout. Really good stuff.

12 oz bottle. Pours a black opaque color with a half finger high off white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of a little bit of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate, but is kind of boring. Tastes of roasted coffee beans basically, with subtle chocolate, but it goes down smooth and taste is better than the smell. Overall a good porter.

Nice dark pour......very nice roasted aroma. the flavor is nice. creamy, smooth, chocolate and subtle coffee. Same on the palate, though a tuch more mellow and finishes very well.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a decent tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, mild chocolate and a hint of caramel. Flavor was roasted malts, roasted coffee, sweet chocolate, and a touch of smoke with a medium body and has a lightly bitter and dry finish. Decent brew.

Bells is a phenomenal brewery and this offering is no exception. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a one-finger tan head. Coffee and chocolate on the nose. Palate is medium. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Fairly long and satisfying finish.
