Nearly opaque dark brown body with a lasting tan head. Aroma of chicolate, coffee and cream, and a touch of smoke. Medium palate with a surprising amount of carbonation. Big malty flavor with the chocolate and coffee evident right away. Smooth finish with a slightly bitter coffee aftertaste. A delicious porter.

Medium body, creamy, lively, bitter finish with a hint of sweetness. One of my favorite porters thus far. Only downside, the taste is too...grainy? Earthy? Muddy? I can’t describe it, but while I’ll say this is a good porter, it’s not a great porter.

Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of caramel and roasted malts. Flavor is roasted with some coffee at the finish. Light and very drinkable.

Dark, dark brown with little by way of carbonation or head. Smells of coffee, black licorice, bread, and toasted malts. A touch too sweet with hardly a complement to the burnt undertones. No spiciness to speak of. Hop presence is subdued. Another American Porter that is caught between styles. More candy-like than a stout but not the porter that St. Peter’s is. A simple beer, and tasty nonetheless, but I’d rather be drinking St. Peter’s or Kalamazoo Stout.

Eh, this didn’t thrill me at all. Somewhat thin on flavor, a bit too dry and bitter for my taste in a porter, and just overall bland. Decent beer, but there are many that are far better for the style.

Bottle. Poured dark brown with a beige head and plenty lacing. Aroma of nice big roasted malt, chocolate, coffee. Taste is very roasted as well. Mouth is on the full side, creamy, nice. Finish is lightly bitter. Very solid 5.6% porter. Another nice effort from Bells.
