ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Oct 15, 2008 Bottle from Bello. Easy-drinking to the point of boring. Hits style guidelines to the same degree. Only enough dark roast/coal to placate; slight meaty char like a rauch (to its credit, never detected this in a porter before); not much chocolate; detectable buttery flavor/texture. Not my new lover. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 10, 2008 12oz i’ve been sitting on for way too long. Batch 6723. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is sweet and malty. Taste is sweet and malty. Its decent look forward to trying a fresher bottle. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle from hellbilly. Thanks! Pours a nice dark brown with a frothy beige head. The aroma is husky dark malts, mild roast, and a touch of sweetness. The flavor is similar with a good dose of dark malts, some chocolate, and some light roast. The finish is a little dry and roasty with a moderate hop profile as well. Carbonation is medium, and the beer drinks smooth. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Oct 6, 2008 Dark brown with some amber highlights and an off-white head. Aroma is mild with notes of roasted malts, cocoa, vanilla, and nuttiness. Flavor is also mild, bordering on thin, although the flavor that is there is good- chocolate, vanilla, and some slight smokey roasted notes. Creamy mouthfeel is nice. mcjay (301), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Oct 5, 2008 Updated: Oct 6, 2008Dark amber/black color with a thin tan head. Mild roasted and slightly sweet aroma with a robust but smooth taste, a bitter finish and a hint of chocolate. WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle.A nice dark oily pour, with a thin light tan head.Nice aroma of coffee, smoke, and tobacco. Malty flavors with coffee and chocolate notes. Finish is hearty, would go well on a winter night. MrRain (415), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Sep 29, 2008 12oz bottle poured into a large tulip glass. BP pours black with a medium-sized brown head, much like a stout. The nose consists of coffee and smoke. The body is thick for a porter; it borders on a stout. It is creamy and smooth. Bitter flavors of coffee and chocolate dominate but are balanced with pepper and a light dairy flavor. This is a wonderful porter and I look forward to drinking the other five.
