COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark ale for all occasions. A blend of dark malt gives this beer flavors of coffee and chocolate with some smokey roasted notes.

Pleasent light aroma of toasted raisen bread. Light tan head clings to the glass, mouthfeel is chewy rich and smooth, whereas the body is ligher than the rich color would indicate. Dark brown color, not black, but a rich deep mahogony. Very well balanced bitternees, and plenty of malt. With bittering upon entry and then smoothing out to a rich malty bisquity tatse. Excelent porter. I would reccomend this to those transitioning between lager/pilsners to ales. Good entry point to the higher ibu ales.

Had this from a firkin at Casanovas. Very tasty and enjoyable! Dark, flavorful, but still light on the palate.

Finally getting around to rating this one. Pours an almost clear very dark brown with thin tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, slight smoke, coffee, caramel, and slight nuttiness. Flavor matches well and comes together very nicely. One heck of a porter.

Originally reviewed: 4/6/09. Pours a dark muddy brown with a two-finger tan head. Head retention is firm and lacing is decent. Smells of fresh-baked bread, chocolate, coffee, and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is creamy smooth. Very pleasant mouth on this beer. Flavor is of faint cocoa, potato bread, and finishes slightly sweet like an oatmeal cookie. Not a bold porter by any means, but it’s solid. Wonderfully drinkable.

Pours very dark brown-black with very little tan head. Smells like Nesquick powder! Not a ton of flavor jumps out at me....there’s obviously some roastiness/chocolate....but not a lot. Not as thick as I thought it would be.

Total Wine & More, Fairfax 12oz: Pours a blackish color with a small head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Taste is very well-balanced. This is very easily chuggable. Not really sweet, nor very bitter. In other words, this is a middle-of-the-road porter, but it is very good at it. In either case, I thought that this was going to be a bit better, yet it was still quite good.

Has some good parts to it. Might be a little carby, but not too bad. Very drinkable.

Bottle from kabutomushi. Thanks. Chocolate, light sweet aroma. Dark muddy brown, thin where it meets the glass, but very good lacing. Mild, fizzy chocolate flavors. Buttery and roasty. A very nice sweetish aftertaste. Thin body. Overall, fairly tasty but a bit too thin and weak.

Dark caramel color. Light head. Chocolate, malt, coffee. A nice porter, very drinkable. Aroma is forgettable. Has a nice smooth finish, no glaring faults. Not best of breed though. Try Founders Porter for greater complexity.
