Appearance is very dark brown with thin dark tan head that fades. Flavor is burnt coffee and toast, chocolate and roasted malts. I also taste something else but not sure what it is...its interesting. Palate is great, full bodied, great carbonation and a roasted bitter aftertaste. Overall, another easy drinker from Bell’s. chicagodri (1041), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Very nice aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee. I think it is a little thin for a Porter but it does still have very good flavor. On a side note, I am pumped to have Bells back in Illinois finally. Thank you Bells! bretupdegraff (172), Fishers, Indiana, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2008 12oz bottle, pored a dark black/deep purple with a tiny soon to be nonexistent coffee colored head. Aroma is roasted sweet malts and something else I cant quite put my finger on. Taste is sweet malts and some licorice. Palate is extremely watered down, worst part of the beer for me. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Pours near black with a small creamy brown head. Deep roast aroma, with notes of chocolate and coffee. Deep roasted malt flavor, light chocolate, coffee and licorice. Bitter and pretty hoppy in the finish. Lighter flavors than expecting, dark but light. Medium body that has lots of fizzy carbonation, strange sensation for a porter. I expected more. flatmatt (222), Northville, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours black with a small off-white head. Aroma is mostly roasty with some black licorice. Flavor is roasty, nutty, a little bit of dark chocolate, but overall somewhat watery. Somewhat disappointing for a Bell’s brew.
