COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark ale for all occasions. A blend of dark malt gives this beer flavors of coffee and chocolate with some smokey roasted notes.

Dark brown in color with a thin tan head. Roasty malt flavor with bitter chocolate and coffee notes. Hints of nuts, toasty earthiness. Crisp yet watery finish. A good mid-strength porter.

Pours dark brown with a bit of tan head and a little lacing. Aroma is very sweet and malty. Flavor is similar but also has some hints of dark chocolate and some bitterness. Very smooth and light in the mouth. Not overly impressed by this one, but it is tasty enough and very drinkable.

12 oz. Tried as part of a porter tasting. A: Jet black with minimal lacing. S: Dark chocolate and coffee. T: Coffee and dark chocolate from beginning to end; instead of sweetness, this brew uses elevated bitterness on the finish. M: Medium body and no carbonation - perhaps a bit too smooth.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2011 Drank from the bottle. The beer wasn’t as cold as I would normally have liked but it did not seem to matter with this beer. This one had all the important parts to a porter: dark chocolate, malt, coffee, roasty in taste as well as aroma. What sets this porter apart from the crowd is the fact is doesn’t have the overbearing sweetness at the end that so many others do. This beer has a nice dark chocolate bitterness to it that stays with you all the way through. Very good porter especially when you take into consideration the price. I would have gladly paid twice as much for this beer than I was required.

12 ounce bottle. Pours almost opaque dark brown with 1.5 finger tan head with decent retention. Amazing aromas of strong caramel, maple syrup, coffee, chocolate. Taste of chocolate, malts, and coffee. A bit thin in the mouth feel, but creamy. Finish is smooth with some coffee after taste. Quite tasty though, I just wish it was more full bodied, with bigger lingering tastes on the finish.

Outstanding smell but a bland taste. Your nose is guided by tantalizing scents of coffee, syrupy coffee, and sweet roasted malts; and your tongue is met with a very bland, nondescript porter. An alright beer, but could have been something incredible.
