bretupdegraff (172), Fishers, Indiana, USA Aug 16, 2008 pour dark with a hint of amber glow when held to the light. head didn’t last very long. decent aroma not overly noticable taste is nice- not near the taste of the Expedition for my palette. A good drinkable brew. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2008 Sampled at the Oregon Brewer’s Festival in July 2008. Very rich and chocolatey porter. Malty and smokey--roasted cofee noticeable. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA Aug 9, 2008 12oz bottle, pored a dark black/deep purple with a tiny soon to be nonexistent coffee colored head. Aroma is roasted sweet malts and something else I cant quite put my finger on. Taste is sweet malts and some licorice. Palate is extremely watered down, worst part of the beer for me. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Aug 8, 2008 Pours dak redish brown. Pretty decent sized head that doesn’t last. Good lacing. Aroma of sweet malts and coffee. This beer has a great mouth feel. Very creamy and smooth. Flavor starts of sweet with a finish of burnt coffee.. Pretty good beerl 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 6, 2008 Pours near black with a small creamy brown head. Deep roast aroma, with notes of chocolate and coffee. Deep roasted malt flavor, light chocolate, coffee and licorice. Bitter and pretty hoppy in the finish. Lighter flavors than expecting, dark but light. Medium body that has lots of fizzy carbonation, strange sensation for a porter. I expected more. flatmatt (221), Northville, Michigan, USA Aug 1, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours black with a small off-white head. Aroma is mostly roasty with some black licorice. Flavor is roasty, nutty, a little bit of dark chocolate, but overall somewhat watery. Somewhat disappointing for a Bell’s brew. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottle: Pours black, almost opaque. Aroma is burnt coffee, sweet chocolate malts, and dark chocolate. Flavor is smooth chocolate malt, roasted malt, higher carbonated than I expected. Almost a little on the bitter side for a porter. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jul 26, 2008 On tap OBF 2008. Pours dark brown with a soft tan head. Big roasty porter, earthy, with burnt chocolate and espresso in the finish. Higher carbonation broke up the palate, but the roastiness still have a nice flavor even though it felt airy and a bit thin.
