Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA May 14, 2008 Wonderful brew, pours dark and heady with plenty of body, aromas of chocolate and coffee, flavor is very complex for a porter with tastes of coffeee and chocolate to the forefront, compares quite well with Anchor porter. juandela (2), kalamazoo, Michigan, USA does not count May 12, 2008 could there be a better beer in america? i vote no. larry bell does a handful of ok beers, some good and a few that are truly spectacular. this is one of the spectacular. rich and not for the feint of heart. heavy on chocolate maltiness, smoke and even and steady flavor. this beer perfectly accompanies a steak, burger or a cold winter evening in the recliner. like a good cigar, larry’s flagship porter satisfies. on this continent it’s great lake’s edmund fitzgerald of larry’s stock porter. polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA May 11, 2008 Dark brown hue with an average sized tan head. Notes and flavors of chocolate, roasted coffee, smoke and metal. Medium to light bodied. Decent but average. Kind of an off flavor in there as well. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA May 4, 2008 Very solid brew! Poured a very dark brown with nice off white head. Aroma was smoke and malt. Very smooth and simple taste of coffee and smoked malt. Would drink again. bigtaster (184), Grand Rapids, USA May 3, 2008 Pours black with large light brown head. Aroma of strong smokiness and dark malts. Ultra smooth smoky flavor. Quick almost watery finish, lacks complexity. Simplistic and good. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA May 1, 2008 Great smoky tobacco flavor. Slightly bitter finish. Will definitely get this one again. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Apr 30, 2008 Pour is dark with light tan head. Aroma of smoke, dark malt, and a little bit of coffee. Taste is strong smoke with a very strong burnt flavor. I tasted too much coffee in this one. Otherwise, it was smooth but probably won’t buy again. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 29, 2008 12 oz. bottle - thanks again to TMC for this one; pours dark brown with light tan head; initial aromas are roasty and slightly bitter; very baltic-like; nice body and texture for a porter - medium and creamy with light carbonation; flavors remind of a baltic as well - chocolate and mild roasty; a great porter where texture is the name of the game
