Sep 3, 2009 Bottle. Standard porter pour: at first a slightly opaque black, then dark ruby highlights emerging, especially when held up to the lamplight. Quarter-inch head that dissipates, but comes right back with a quick swirl. Nose is very smoky, with evident burnt chocolate. Tastes of roasted dark coffee, a hint of dark fruit, and the chocolate comes through in a big way as the beer gets closer to room temperature. Very satisfying, very rich.

Lots of roasted maltiness, a good amount of coffee, a little chocolate and some smokiness. Roast theme continues in the flavor, dry, more coffee and a bitterness in the finish, thanks Trey. ꀖ)

Aug 25, 2009 Pours a very dark brown color with slight mahogany edges and a thin foamy beige head. Roasted malty aroma with sweet chocolate notes. This beer tastes kind of smokey with lots of roasted chocolate maltiness, oatmeal, caramel and burnt toast. Slightly creamy body with a dry bitter finish.

Aug 23, 2009 Pours very dark, but not dark enough that light doesn’t escape. White head, lots of carbonation, and little lacing.
Smell is the high point, a very clean scent leading with coffee, toffee, and roasted malts.
Taste is strong roasted coffee bean with a slight bitter end. Very tasty and smooth, but does seem to lose some definition as the drink warms.
Mouth is light body and medium to high carbonation.
Would buy this again, but probably will drink it quicker.

Aug 22, 2009 Thanks coyotehunter! Batch 8968. Very dark brown, short tan temporary head. Creamy dark chocolate nose. Simply excellent balance between sweet and dry, burnt and creamy. The burnt character wins out in the end with a warm toasty finish.

Aug 21, 2009 Pours with a brown, frothy head and a slightly reddish appearance. Nice hardy body. The flavor is a creamy chocolate with a hint of cherries.
