Poures a thin light tan head with pretty decent lacing, maybee thats were all the head went. I expected this beer’s aroma to be better. Aroma is basic sweet and malty. Color is black and flavor is weak chocolate and light coffee. I think this beer only lacks acohol. Surly tastes like a Bell, I expected more. Kinda platitudinous Porter. beerbill (1939), Laurel, New York, USA

Pours virtually black with a thin tan head that lasted through two-thirds of the glass and left a sheet of lace with each sip. Pleasant aroma of lightly roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor was very similar to the aroma with lightly roasted malt and just a hint of chocolate. Fairly smooth with some very light bitterness at the finish. This is a very solid porter and represents the style well. ChetLemmons (87), orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 10, 2008 very dark, extremely thin layer for bubbling brown head. a fuller head would have been nice. chocolate malt on the nose, hints of coffee. initial flavor is chocolate with a robust coffee finish. slightly carbonated going down. not a bad porter but by far not on the best list. i had such high hopes for this, being that it’s a bells. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Is this really a beer made by Bells?? Aroma is weak, chocolate notes and thats it. Porters to me are either hit or miss and this is a miss. Watery mouthfeel and not much flavor.Drinkable due to lack of any real flavor, I thought I was drinking something made by AHB. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Thank you Linus_stick/Alan for this one! It’s black/brown with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and a bit of coffee. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, a light bitterness, licorice, coffee, hints of chocolate and a roasted, bitter finish with hints of grapefruit. The overall impression is a somewhat hard roasted beer, that is nice as it is, but it would get a higher score from me, if it were just a wee bit more mellow. regularfricks (18), Michigan, USA
