Bells Porter

very dark, extremely thin layer for bubbling brown head. a fuller head would have been nice. chocolate malt on the nose, hints of coffee. initial flavor is chocolate with a robust coffee finish. slightly carbonated going down. not a bad porter but by far not on the best list. i had such high hopes for this, being that it’s a bells.

Is this really a beer made by Bells?? Aroma is weak, chocolate notes and thats it. Porters to me are either hit or miss and this is a miss. Watery mouthfeel and not much flavor.Drinkable due to lack of any real flavor, I thought I was drinking something made by AHB.

Bells Porter is a very smooth and drinkable porter. Nice dark brown color with a nice caramel head. The aroma is smokey and sweet with a very malty flavor. Hints of coffee were evident as well as a bit of chocolate.

Thank you Linus stick/Alan for this one! It’s black/brown with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and a bit of coffee. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, a light bitterness, licorice, coffee, hints of chocolate and a roasted, bitter finish with hints of grapefruit. The overall impression is a somewhat hard roasted beer, that is nice as it is, but it would get a higher score from me, if it were just a wee bit more mellow.

Dark brown coloring with brown head. Full bodied, but light on the palate. Slight bitterness on the after taste.

Very dark with a brown hue and thin brown head. Big chocolate aroma with some smoke and leather. Full bodied and soft on the palate. Roasted and chocolate flavors with balancing caramel sweetness. Low bitterness but there is a bit of hop tang. Easy drinking porter.

12 oz bottle from trade with ketchepillar. Deep brown pour with a thin head that disappears quickly. Great roasted aroma with some coffee notes. Rich chocolate, caramel, roasted barley, and some toffee. Great mouthfeel. Rich but not overpowering. There was a bit of bitterness at the swallow, but I would guess that is from the roast and not hops. Really enjoyed it.

Pours a very dark Brown with a dark brown head. Aroma of strong coffee chocolate and soem caramel. Coffee really comes through in this one with a slightly bitter finish.
