Big tan head off a very firm pour, but it falls fast. Mildly roasted nose. Touch of a sweet tone. Malt tones are there for sure. Flavor is hearty with mild roasted tones and pretty thick malt tones. It does have a nice thick consistency to it. Just no outlandish character, or anything remotely strikingly interesting for that matter. Feel is okay. A bit thin on the liquid feel for a stout and also has a less than impacting carbonation. It’s definitely drinkable, and worth trying. It just doesn’t bring anything overly interesting. mgermani (864), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2008 Pours a dull brown with no head and a faint, chocolate malt aroma. Tastes very pleasant - cafe latte, milk chocolate, earthy & sweet with good bittering hops. Aftertaste is slightly roasty & dry. Carbonation is low but body is reasonably thick. This is quite a nice balanced porter. alexsdad06 (1079), Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pour is dark brown to almost black in color with a medium sized diminishing beige head. The aroma is roasted malts, sweet chocolate, and some coffee. The flavor has much of he same with the addition of some hoppy bitterness. The chocolate and roasted qualities still are in the forefront. Good moutheel. Another of the usual solid offerings from Bells. topherh (899), Kearney, Missouri, USA

Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is of nuts, slight coffee, and lots of bitter roasted malts. One of my favorite porters. DWestrick (237), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA

Flavor is consistent throughout. Kind of watery for a porter. sbroome (72), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA

God knows I love you, one of my favorites, however I feel like we’ve encountered our first disagreement. Now, it’s not that I’m done with you, I just don’t think we’ll do the Porter anymore. Please don’t take it personal, it’s just there are more attractive ones out there. You’d be more appealing if you weren’t so burnt and dry. I like smokey like the best of them, but the threesome wasn’t as I expected. Please don’t be mad, and if you would, could you have your friends Expedition Stout and Hopslam call me. They are much better looking. wmubronco1992 (180), Coldwater, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Bottle - batch #8024. Dark brown with slight red tint. Nice big tan head and great lacing. Sweet and malty with coffee flavors. Smooth with little carbonation. Not tons of body, but enough to put it in a different league then the macro porter I tried recently. This isn’t my favorate style so I may be a little bias. Its a good beer, but just no little wow factor for me, but I appreciate any beers from Bells.
