bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 10, 2007 this was not as good as I thought it was going to be. It looked really good but didn’t come through with it’s rpomise. Nice body and tan head - just didn’t have that deep palate and roasted malt flavor I’d expect form a porter. keith0718 (157), Olathe, Kansas, USA Sep 2, 2007 Updated: Mar 29, 2008I tried this several times over the course of a week. Each time I had a slightly different impression. Overall, I didn’t find the beer all that special, all though it’s a solid porter. Average malt w/ notes of molasses and coffee; average hops; medium body

DrHomolka (725), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 28, 2007 Updated: Jan 6, 200812oz bottle sans batch number. Pours a cola brown with a small, light tan head. Aroma is very sweet, beery, a lot of dark fruits, and smoke. Significant smoke. Nutty. Not completely pleasant and certainly does not have the aromatic characteristics I like in a porter. Flavor is better. Slight roast, a nudge of chocolate with a quick finish. Small amount of fruit in the taste. Medium bodied, just heavy enough for me not to complain that it’s too light-bodied. Drinkability is high. Uniqueness is low. A bit of a let down. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 26, 2007 Bottle, thanks to after4ever. Pours opaque blackish brown with a substantial beige head. Coffee aroma. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nutty chocolate taste with a piney bitterness behind it. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA Aug 26, 2007 Bottle. This has all the normal characteristics of a good porter. Dark color. Strong codffee/malt aromas and flavors. Not the best but well worth a drink. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 25, 2007 12-ounce. Thanks, Theisti! Pours deep opaque black with a thick, off-white, moussy head. Oddly soured nose, almost like sour milk. Rauchmalt? Almost smoky sour. Medium body with gentle carb, definitely forward flavors: all the coffee, chocolate, smoke, and roast promised by the brewer’s notes. Pleasing, slightly creamy mid-palate. A bit off overall, but not obviously flawed. LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Aug 25, 2007 12oz bottle, Batch 7990. Pours dark brown with small brown head. Aroma roasted coffee. Taste of coffee and chocolate with bitter after taste.
