Oddly soured nose, almost like sour milk. Rauchmalt? Almost smoky sour. Medium body with gentle carb, definitely forward flavors: all the coffee, chocolate, smoke, and roast promised by the brewer’s notes. Pleasing, slightly creamy mid-palate. A bit off overall, but not obviously flawed. LooseCannon (927), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Very little aroma noted here. Good roasted malt flavor but very little left for the palate (maybe slightly smoky but very slight.) Overall, a good beer that I could enjoy most with a medium done ribeye.
