Thin body, brown bread, some coffee and chocolate, moderate sweetness, mild bitterness. Sort of a smooth finish. Not bad, not great. RedXIII (127), Powell, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Another solid effort from Bells but a bit disappointing compared to some of their premium brews. I found the smoky expresso flavor was weak compared to some other porters I’ve had. I noticed a nice touch of caramel in the finish which made the aftertaste quite creamy and pleasant. Smokey ash is evident with some nice bitter chocolate malts going on. Coffee-like pour. Somewhat chewy but a bit light for me. markas101 (551), Fargo, North Dakota, USA
