In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours a dark brown (almost black, except for a reddish purple cast). Huge beige head. Reticulated lacing. Roasted leathery aroma. Thinner than I expected. Great roasted taste at the finish lasts a long time on the tongue. Not really as good a porter as I had hoped. The visuals are the best part. Fairly discernable sweetness to balance the roastedness.

Bottle. A deep red almost makes this beer look black. Topped by a thin tan head. Im not big on the aroma of this one - like the Aecht rauchbier it just seems to have too much of smoked meat aroma which instead makes the roasted coffee smell like soy sauce. With the flavor they managed some restraint but that soy sauce presence is hard to ignore. Give me some fried rice and we have a meal.

Brown- black with a small lasting head. Aroma is spicy chocolate molasses with a sour-metallic tinge. Flavor is initially bittersweet chocolate with sour cream, turning to chicory coffee with smoky marshmallows. Palate is medium-bodied and smooth with a nice acidic tingle.

Cola brown-black pour, almost opaque, with a tan head that diminishes to ring lace. Nose is of lightly roasted bittersweet chocolate. Nicely put together, dry roasts, dark chocolate, light smoke and slight bitters. The finish continues the bitters/smoke aspect, but done so dryly, with some dark fruits coming through on the aftereffects. Nice play on the palate, exposing complexities in dry brews. Feels creamy with zesty carbo levels; easily drinkable. Good job.

Good aroma of Malt, caramel and chocolate. Poured a brown sparkling, Large, tan, fizzy head that stayed a long time, became frothy after a while, left light lacing, Wonderful flavor of roasted malt, slight caramel and then a lot of rich chocolate. Starts roasted malt, then a slight bitterness, then touch of caramel then lots of sweet rich chocolate. Excellent flavor! A light body with a creamy smooth texture, finish is an abrupt chocolate sweet with a slight touch of very pleasing and very light bitterness. Now, I could drink quite a few of this Porter, for it is a definite pleasure to drink. I will definitely buy this again and add to my favorite rotation of brews. Great job by Bell’s. Was served in a Stein.

Bottle. Cola color with a decent tan head. Light aroma of malt, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is the same, a bit heavier on the chocolate. Watery mouthfeel. Hugely ordinary, but not bad.
