jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jul 13, 2007 12oz bottle-pours a big rich light brown head and black color with red tint. Aroma is mild dark malt-chocolate/molasses. Taste is roasty, dark malt-chocolate/molasses, nice secondary hops bite, some acidity. OK carbonation. mcbackus (725), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2007 bottle: pours a darf brown with a cocoa coloured head that leaves a bubbly film on top. aroma of chocolate a hint of coffee and a caramel malt. flavour is smooth and silky with chocolate, caramel malt and some nuttiness. goes down very well and could be a great session dark. biggenius29 (155), Hamilton, Michigan, USA Jul 12, 2007 Bottled on 8-24-06. Notes from a 1-29-07 rating. A good porter, not as complex as Sierry Nevada’s. The first taste is sweet roasted/nutty/caramel malts. The finish is of mild coffee. The body is a little on the thin side, I was hopeing for a little fuller mouthfeel. jameswolfe (141), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jul 9, 2007 Mmm. Good smooth porter. Aroma of caramel and chocolate. Taste is of the same, a little bitter. Not much of a finish, but a thick beer that goes down well after a meal. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Jul 9, 2007 Very nice porter. Nice dark caramel color with a thick amber head. Subtle malt aroma. Smooth drink with a very nice finish. Not an overpowering aftertaste. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 9, 2007 Pouring an opaque black, the nose that barely hints at malt does not do the palate justice. Tipping the brew back delivers nicely blended chocolate/caramel malts with a soupcon of barley lurking far in the background. A very pleasing, and surprisingly refreshing, porter. ilikestuff (222), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jul 9, 2007 A great brew that sadly you can’t get down here, thanks to my wife for picking me up a six pack from indiana. Pours a deep mahogany, almost black, with a bubbly brown head. Nose is somewhat dull with hints of caramel and burnt toast. Flavor is full and complex, with a very clean finish, onderful for the style. If this brew had just a touch more roasted flavor, it would be the best porter ever, it is still among the best. This is a great overall brew. nihar (68), Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2007 Nice dark brown color with a light head.. plenty of coffee and burnt malt in the aroma
Tastes like burnt coffee with plenty of malts and a good bitter finish...
