GTown (126), New York, USA Jan 5, 2007 Draught and bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head and moderate lacing. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied with some roastiness and a smooth finish. An excellent session brew. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jan 3, 2007 Boring, deadening, roasty, run of the mill porter. Light body with poor flavour, mouth feel and finish. Still one of my favorite breweres but I see know they can whiff on several brews. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Jan 2, 2007 The nearly black appearance is accompanied by a small, tan head with good lacing. Roasted malts produce aromas of coffee and chocolate with hints of molassas toward the end. Rich, malty, smokey bittersweet taste, with some floral hops contributing to the flavor. Full bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel leading to a bitter, but smooth, lasting finish. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 2, 2007 Bottle thanks to Whaleman for sharing this one. Dark black body with a decent size head. Slight chocolate and malt in the aroma. Flavor was the same but warmed up nice with a good aftertaste that was smooth. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 31, 2006 12oz bottle. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized light brown head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, light coffee, and caramel. Tastes of roast, caramel, and a light coffee bitter finish. jimhilt (1664), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Dec 29, 2006 Pours a five finger brown head that fades to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Nearly black, faint hints of mahogany color. Light-medium carbonation and heavy bodied. Slight baker’s chocolate nose. Starts balanced, flavor is baker’s chocolate. $1.49 for a 12oz bottle from Chalet Party Goshen, In. Batch #7156. stison42 (318), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Dec 28, 2006 Updated: Jan 21, 2007Black. Malted roasted flavor. Nice and smooth. Had at Tulley’s in Cincinnati with my family. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Dec 26, 2006 From a 12oz Bottle. Pours a dark black color with some tannic hues and a thick, healthy head of creamy tan froth. Aromas of dry dark chocolate and lightly roasted coffee. Medium bodied, well constructed creamy mouthfeel. Well balanced flavors of chocolate and lightly roasted coffee combine with some lightly smokey malts to provide a dark palate without being overly dry. Long roasty finish with a balanced hop smack to keep from getting too bitter, but also to keep below the malt profile. Quite nice, stylisticly.
