Bottle and on draft. Pours a brown body with a light white head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, vainlla. Flavor is such but comes together in a rather boring way. eh.

Dark opaque draft. The smell of heavy roasted malt with a bit of straw and hay? Strong roasted coffee flavor. This one has a nice earthy gritty feel to it. A good porter.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Schroppfy. Pours a black color with a tinge of amber highlights. The head is tan and generous. The aroma was muted, murky and dusty. The flavor chocolate, dark roasted malts and mocha. The mouthfeel was full and creamy. The finish was medium and dry with a bit of lingering walnut flavor. Overall: A very decent, drinkable porter. Recommended.

Pours nice dark brown with a hint of red and a finger of light tan creamy head that dissipates quickly and leaves a little lacing behind. Very nice roasted malt aroma with some chocolate notes. Excellent smoky roasted chocolate malt flavor with a very nice coffee finish. Great porter, wish I had more.

Bottle thanks to EithCubes. Pours a deep brown with a thick beige head. The aroma is a rich smokey and roasted malt, also some caramel. The taste is full of so many flavors; caramel malts, rich smoke and roasted flavors, some coffee and chocolates. So well balanced. I’m a sucker for a good porter and this is a top notch one. Man I love Bells.

Wonderful brew, pours dark and heady with plenty of body, aromas of chocolate and coffee, flavor is very complex for a porter with tastes of coffeee and chocolate to the forefront, compares quite well with Anchor porter.

could there be a better beer in america? i vote no. larry bell does a handful of ok beers, some good and a few that are truly spectacular. this is one of the spectacular. rich and not for the feint of heart. heavy on chocolate maltiness, smoke and even and steady flavor. this beer perfectly accompanies a steak, burger or a cold winter evening in the recliner. like a good cigar, larry’s flagship porter satisfies. on this continent it’s great lake’s edmund fitzgerald of larry’s stock porter.
