Bells Porter

From a 12-ounce brown bottle, pours an opaque dark brown with solid tan head. Chocolatey aromas. Medium body and full mouthfeel. Rich chocolatey flavor and even dry/sweet dark malt flavor balance. Emphasis on the malt. Clean finish. Very well done. Smooth and very drinkable.

Bottle, pours dark black with small but thick head that sticks around. Good aroma with bold coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Nice porter!

Nice and dark coffee color with no head. A lame porter in all the best ways. Just enough rosty coffee flavor but not to much for a porter hater. Light bodied with a bit of hops.

Dark poor with black reddish coloration. Nice even body with hints of chocolate and sweet wine overtones.

Bell’s Porter opens with plenty of roasted malt aroma with slight chocolate-like sweetness. It pours dark but not opaque, with a medium body and little hop lace. The flavor is a nice balance of dark malts, brewed nearly to dryness, with few apparent hops. The roast dominates the finish.

Bottle. Light roasty aroma. Rubypitch pour with a light brown head. Mild roasty flavor, nice and dry. Salty and lightly sour. Medium-full body with semi-smooth maltiness, light grit, and light nuttiness. Touch of sweetener in the sprint to the finish. Medium-long aftertaste. Judging by this bottle, you guys are all exaggerating the coffee notes. Really a nice porter, though.

Bottle, one of the first sold in Iowa at John’s grocery. Strong beer like aroma. Smells like beer if that makes sense. Dark brown color with a frothy head. Bittersweet flavor with taste bouncing back and forth between the two. Slight smoky flavor. Bright palate with good carbonation. Slight acidic citrusy finish. Good.

Dark brown, almost black pour with a small loose tan head. Smells of roasted chocolate malts, hint of coffee and some roasted hops. Lots of chocolate flavor upfront fading to coffee and a slight hop bitterness. Somewhat thin mouthfeel, with a prickley carbonation on the tounge.
