kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2006 12 oz bottle via Monger (thanks james!) Pours black with some ruby accents and a large tan head. Not much aroma to this one, just some subtle vanilla, caramel, chocolate. Taste is the same, the flavors are all pretty subdued. Roastiness is mild. Very smooth with a nice finish. Medium body. Medium to high carbonation. This is very easy drinking and refreshing for a porter. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 14, 2006 pours a dark brown with light manilla head. Aroma sweet malts and caramel. Slighty hoppy in taste and aroma. Overall, pretty decent and drinkable. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 12, 2006 Updated: Jul 11, 2008Slight aroma of burned wet wood. Very dark beer, couldn’t see the bubbles till they got close to the top. While drinking, there was nothing offensive. A detectable finish of some bitter hops.
blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 12, 2006 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma of dark lightly roasted malt and chocolate -- nice! Mild malty flavour with very light roastness and a light bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good, it’s pleasant and easy to drink but it could use more flavour and body. CMUBEERMAN (415), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 10, 2006 bottle. pours a rich cocoa with a minimal head. aroma is hazelnut and a bit of dark chocolate. flavor is a bit smokey and a bit nutty...not much chocolate though. a bit of bitterness comes from a bit of spice and the sweetness comes from a little fruit. mouthfeel was acutally a little bit heavier than i like in a porter. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2006 bottle. dark black, 1/4" small brown head dissipates quickly. deep bitter chocolate aroma. bitterness appears in taste as well. pretty thick without being oily. maybe there could be a bit more going on in the flavor, i’m getting little more than roasted chocolate malt. still good. side of glass COLOR: REFLECTED- black TRANSMITTED- black w/ orange tint AROMA: dark
malts MOUTHFEEL: thin; foamy/fizzy PALATE: slick; tinny TASTE: cola; slightly bitter
aftertaste COMMENTS: too much conditioning bite (suprising b/c it’s BC and low carbonation).
very thin; little character. The trick here is at room temp it tastes no worse than cool;
so due to its thin-ness and low carbonation slamming this is not a problem. CONDITIONS:
