Dark brown, bubbly white head. Sweet, malty nose of chocolate, tea, and tree bark. Smells similar an Amber. Fizzy carbonation kills the mouth and contrasts the milky roasted malt and chocolate. I expected more from Bells, a lot more.

Pour from a12oz bottle. Deep deep amber in color, almost black. Thin head the color of café au lait. Rich aroma of bunt grain, chocolate, coffee, and underlying sweet malts. Flavor is right where a porter should be – dominated by toasted malt with relatively light hops, not as heavy as a stout but a few steps beyond a dark lager. Sweet and uneventful finish with toasty grains dominating, very little of the heavy hoppiness of some of the ales and beer. Tasty.

Dark brown, pretty opaque, faint off white head. Nose is cocoa and some alcohol, warming. Roasted coffee bitterness, astringent and dry. Slightly sweet but mostly roasted flavor. Medium palate.

Pours Black, brick red. with Fat wood colored head. Long lasting lace.Aroma of coco and dark fruit. some but very little chocolate/coffee. Flavor is bitter, smoky, woody. A bit of a fruit taste as well. Strong bitter after taste and mouth feel. pretty good for a porter. not great.
