COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark ale for all occasions. A blend of dark malt gives this beer flavors of coffee and chocolate with some smokey roasted notes.

A very solid porter with some coffee hints and a bit of char taste. Bittersweet chocolate, not too much obvious hop presence, very much to style and a good option.

Poured a dark brown with two fingers of foam, which dissipated fairly quickly. Aroma has some raisin and a bit smokey. Taste is heavy on the sweeter malty side, with a bit of dark fruit hanging as an aftertaste. The carbonation is a bit harsh. Body is medium. Decent example of the style.

Bottle. Pours walnut brown with minimal head. Aroma is surprisingly bland. A touch watery with a bit of coffee and roasted malt. Flavor has some nice coffee flavor but minimal roastiness. Dark chocolate and coffee in the finish but again light on roastiness or sweet malt. This was decent but not up to the quality I’m used to from Bell’s.

Pours black from bottle with a thin brown head. A bit of caramel on the nose. Some slight smoky chocolate notes on the tongue. Finishes dry. Rather thin mouthfeel.

Taste is smoke, chocolate, and a little ashy. 5 4 4 3 10 2.6 EDIT: Much better head this time. More pronounced chocolate aroma and the ashy flavor is still there, but more subdued.

12 oz Bottle. Appearance is black with medium beige head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts with a hit of floral. Taste is also chocolate/coffee with a touch of fruitiness. Palate is medium bodied, nice thin, silky texture, light carbonation, but weak finishing. Good Porter.
