Has a subtle, sweet, yet distinctly bell’s aroma. Opaque black with white head. Light roastiness with good amount of sweetness. That bell’s aroma that I desicribed is coming out in the taste. Medium bodied, and enjoyable all the way through.

Decent head that fades away rather quickly. Nice black color. Looks like a pretty good porter. Nice malty roast aroma. The aroma is not extremely pungent, but you can easily smell this beer. Subtle roast flavor, but extremely malty. The malt is nice, but I wish there was more of a coffee/roast flavor. The palate is nothing exceptional, but it is ok.

Bottle poured black with a light head and lacing. Aroma of sweet roasty malts, coffee and brown suger. Flavor is a roasy burnt malt with a bit of a metalic taste on the finish.

Gregis (1256) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - MAY 12, 2007
Pours a deep, opaque brown, almost black, with a small, creamy, light brown head. The aroma is of roasted coffee and toffee with a fruity raisin undertone. The mouthfeel is a bit thin and soft becoming almost flat rather quickly. The flavor is dominated by roasted coffee, with light bittersweet chocolate. I also detect a slight fruity flavor, like cherries, at the malty and slightly dry finish. I found this to be a very tasty porter, and now, after reading a few other reviews, I find it interesting to see how different people find so many different things in this beer. A great after-dinner beer and definitely one that I’ll recommend to friends.
