A very unremarkable beer. Almost no aroma; just a little malt smell is present. Pours brown, but a little thin. Small brown head. Malty, choclatly flavors, that pale in comparison to many other Bells beers. Still, it was a very palatable beer. Overall, I see no reason to have it again.

Bottle. Dark brown color, small beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate. Taste is tons of chocolate and a bit of coffee.

On draught at Barley's Smokehouse. If you are going to have "guest taps", make 'em Bell's! Pours deep opaque brown with a medium tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is chocolatey and bready. Flavor is smooth a rich and consists of chocolate, coffee and malt. I detected an ever-so-slight sourness in the finish which was interesting. Overall a good Porter, but I'll still stick with the Stouts from Bell's if given the choice.

From the bottle: Dark, dark red almost black with a thin tan head. Light coffee nose and a similar hint in the flavor... roasty and sweet. Very good.

Chocolate, biscuit, orange aromas blend nicely with some fair coffee-like roastiness in the nose. Opaque darkest brown body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, tan head that recedes to cover with some lace. Sweet orange, biscuity malt up front meld with chocolate and floral tones followed by a pleasant roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium-full body is rich and velvety smooth on the tongue with moderate though gentle carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temp. Bottle (Main Street Party Store, Ann Arbor, Jul-05).

On tap at the Eccentric in Kalamazoo (sorry I missed you PsychProf!): very roasty, coffeeish porter, definitely a "robust" example and as such one of my favorites of the style (or sub-style). Personally it seemed fairly full-bodied to me, but then I hadn’t eaten much all day.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 riversideAK (4374) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - OCT 9, 2008
Bottle from hellbilly. Thanks! Pours a nice dark brown with a frothy beige head. The aroma is husky dark malts, mild roast, and a touch of sweetness. The flavor is similar with a good dose of dark malts, some chocolate, and some light roast. The finish is a little dry and roasty with a moderate hop profile as well. Carbonation is medium, and the beer drinks smooth.

350 ml bottle. Dark brown with a fizzy light tan head. Dark chocolate, berries, and roasted malt aroma. Taste of bitter chocolate and coffee with a roasty finish.
