A dark ale for all occasions. A blend of dark malt gives this beer flavors of coffee and chocolate with some smokey roasted notes.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2015 Pours near black with hints of ruby when held to the light. Finger and a half of khaki creamy looking head that dissipates quickly.Scent is of chocolate and robust coffee with a hint of fruit. No unpleasant odors. Smells warm and inviting.Taste is moderately sweet with a good deal of roasty bitterness just the way a porter should be.Beer is medium bodied and creamy with a pleasant amount of carbonation and long bittersweet finish that reminds me of extra dark chocolate. This is an outstanding beer and one of the worlds great porters. If you are into the darkside and haven?t had Bell?s Porter then you are missing out. I highly recommend this brew.

Bell’s Porter has a thick, creamy, beige head, a dark brown appearance, and heavy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of semi-sweet, roasted malt, and dark bread, and the flavor is of cream, some coffee, roasted malt, a touch of char, and bread crust. Bitterness is not high, here. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Bell’s Porter finishe mostly dry. This is good, but a bit dull. RJT

Bottle. A- Iron, cocoa, subtle smoke. A- Black color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Cocoa, dry, slight bitterness, roasty, malty. P- Full body, slightly thin texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- While I wasn’t overly keen on the aroma...a little too much iron in it, it was a pretty textbook porter. I mean, hell, the name is about as obvious as it gets. Lots of dry roasty bitter cocoa and not a ton else. Good but I expect better from Bells.

Bottle - Pours rich dark brown/black, white head that didn’t stick around. Aroma of dark toast, almost burnt. A medley of nuts, with some chocolate muffin mix. Mild bitter in the end with something I can only describe as open drain sewage. Weird description, but I like this beer.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is black with a small tan head. The aroma is your standard porter smell of roasted malt with a hint of coffee. The taste is matches the aroma with the exception of some chocolate added. A very good porter.
