A dark ale for all occasions. A blend of dark malt gives this beer flavors of coffee and chocolate with some smokey roasted notes.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2015 Pours near black with hints of ruby when held to the light. Finger and a half of khaki creamy looking head that dissipates quickly.Scent is of chocolate and robust coffee with a hint of fruit. No unpleasant odors. Smells warm and inviting.Taste is moderately sweet with a good deal of roasty bitterness just the way a porter should be.Beer is medium bodied and creamy with a pleasant amount of carbonation and long bittersweet finish that reminds me of extra dark chocolate. This is an outstanding beer and one of the worlds great porters. If you are into the darkside and haven?t had Bell?s Porter then you are missing out. I highly recommend this brew.

Sweet chocolate, roasted malt aroma. Bittersweet malt up front. Hints of coffee. Satin mouth feel and bitterness comes in on the finish with the best balance in a porter Iíve ever had.

Aromas of dark roasted coffee with a touch of chocolate. Some balance from the hop bitterness. A moderate light tan head; very dark brown, nearly black color to the beer. Taste is predominately bitter flavors; mild to perhaps moderate sweetness. Fairly full bodied with a somewhat oily texture. Average carbonation. Finish is long and mostly roasted bitterness, but a touch of sweetness also. Overall a quite good enjoyable Porter. Complex enough to be interesting, though not enough to make it world class.

Smoky and savory aroma. Little bit of chocolate. Very dark with ruby/garnet highlights. Head retention is a bit lacking but otherwise tasty looking. Flavor is predictably dominated by coffee and chocolate. Pretty hoppy. Somewhat acidic. Mouthfeel is good but a slightly drying finish. Overall a very tasty porter. Glad to have it on the west coast.

Bottle from indianwood store. Nose is malty and cocoa. Notes of smoke and malt and bitter roasted dark fruit. Ok but not amazing. Good porter.

Dark mocha brown, slushy lace and a medium half-finger of light brown head. Aroma is peat smoke, dusty hazelnut, chocolate powder. There is a surprisingly woody hop that is very mild but adds an accent/counterpoint to the smoke. Going deeper there is a hint of plum/date. There is actually a very distinct bacon scent. The flavor is more of that smoked meat, which I was absolutely NOT expecting. The roasted nuttiness comes after, and it works. The feel is dry and dusty, as expected. There is a lot going on here, the smoke, the nuts, the stone fruits, and the slight woodiness. Itís a very good porter.

Old rating. Dark brown color with an off white head. Nice coffee and milk chocolate aromas with biscuit on the nose. Taste is similar with chocolate really standing out as it comes to room temperature. Some dark fruit and hop resin in there as well. Slightly roasted coffee bitter finish. Quality stuff!

From bottle to pint glass. Semi-sweet chocolate, dark wheat and bakerís chocolate aroma. Pours almost opaque brown with garnet highlights. Full dark tan head lingers, with very minimal webbing on the side. Taste is chocolate and chocolate powder. Sweet malt in moderate high amounts leads to a sweet finish. Moderate low bitterness balances well with the chocolate aspects.

Bottle at home while in Jacksonville. Pours a dark brown with an off white head. Lightly grassy coffee aroma... Medium body, medium carbonation. Sweet, with milk choc, coffee, light lemon, some pine... Lovely balance. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
