UPDATED: JUL 22, 2007 Bottle. Best beer of the night, 7/28 at the chatterbox jazz club where I was playing. Chocolate flavors end in roast flavor of coffee. Not terribly complex but very enjoyable.

bottle - batch # 8126. pours a thin dark brown / light black with little head that disappears. some smoky malt aromas... not very strong out of the glass. Wonderful palate - nice blend of liveliness on the sides and a smooth rich and smoky top. It finishes with notes of roasted coffee. Very good porter, but I was kind of expecting more out of Bells with this one.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rlaw (809) - Alabama, USA - NOV 19, 2010
Bottle. Pours very dark with hints of ruby and a medium beige head. Aroma has lots of dark roasted malt, some coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor follows aroma, plus some cherry and a slight fruit tartness. Chocolate is even more pronounced in the flavor. Nice sweet/bitter balance. Some bitterness from the roast malt in the finish. Creamy mouthfeel. A top notch, drinkable, but very flavorful porter.

Smells nice and fresh. Black and tan. Even aroma of choc espresso with freshness. Taste: smoky malt with espresso choc. Mild chew, proper for porter. Not as over the top fruity as some porters can be.

Bottle. Wonderful sessionable porter. Brown with a light tan fuzzy creamy head. On the nose, chocolate, roasty with honeyed touches. Yum. Chocolate, roasty, some nice malts, a touch acidic, light bitterness. Very light, good carbonation, smooth with a nice astringency to the finish. This is so solid.

10-29-07 bottle. Black with quick head. Subtle roasted aroma. Nice flavor and palate. A bit more creaminess and weight would be nice - but overall very drinkable and enjoyable!
