A very tasty brew, pretty strong on the roasted chocolate smell and taste, but very easy to drink still. It wasn’t really heavy and only slight bitterness. Will definitely have again in the future.

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=2 target=blank>OhioDad, thanks Scott!) Nice chocolatey porter...Pours dark coffee brown with some ruby highlights when held to light. Three fingers of creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate, bit of coffee. Mouthfeel smooth, creamy, bit of prickliness. Webby lacing. Flavor of sweet milk chocolate with a bit of coffee, some bitterness overlays and lingers through finish and aftertaste. Very inviting.

Bottle.Pours brown to black with light brown head that is frothy but diminishes quickly. Aromas of dough and light hops, moderate malt aroma with hints of roasted molasses. Flavor is moderately sweet, with tones of chocolate and malts. Medium bodied palate with just the right amount of carbonation. A very good porter.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2009 12 oz bottle pours a dark brown with ruby tinges around the edges. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is of nuts, slight coffee, and lots of bitter roasted malts. One of my favorite porters.

Pours dark dark brown with nice dark tan head that fades quickly. Smoked chocolatey aroma, with some coffee and dark malt. Flavor follows aroma, but is much more pronounced. Clean crisp finish with only minor bitterness. One of the best porters I’ve had thus far.

Bottle thanks to Whaleman for sharing this one. Dark black body with a decent size head. Slight chocolate and malt in the aroma. Flavor was the same but warmed up nice with a good aftertaste that was smooth.

12 oz. single bottle from Total Wine in Huntersville, NC. Pours a nice dark brown color with a think tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and some coffee and cocoa notes. Flavor is similar to the aroma with roasted malt and some coffee. Very nice.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a small, creamy off-white head. Smell: Roasty aroma with notes of oven-cooked fruits, coffee, chocolate, and yes, even cola. Taste: Roasted malt flavor with plenty of coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Dash of cola. Light fruitiness, though not as much as the aroma led me to believe. Roasty, earthy bitterness holds on till the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: So yeah, good stuff.

A slightly mild porter, which is what I’ve been immersed in over the winter. I thought it was fantastic. Just the right amount of coffee/chocolate, and a little roast.. As would be expected, the commercial description is spot on. Everything was milder that the typical porter, which may be why I’m so excited about it right now.
