Definitely an opaque, black colored brew. It is topped by a frothy, almost creamy consistency, initially two-finger thick, brownish leaning tan colored head. The aroma is quite burnt and roasted. It even has a note like burnt grain husks, in fact it is quite husky in its grain aromatics. Notes of chocolate cover malt balls add a bit of roundness to the harsher burnt notes, which actually are not all that harsh in this beer. Towards the end it picks up a note that reminds me of the acidity in a sweetened espresso.

The mouthfeel on this is quite light up front, after the beer has left my mouth it takes on a touch of fullness. It actually leaves a chocolate like mouth coating that has a touch of malt sweetness to it. There is some burnt grain acidity to this beer, but it seems just enough for the sweet chocolaty malt and the body to balance out. This beer is defined by the dominant roasted grain flavors, they even add bitterness to this beer (though some of the bitterness in this brew is certainly hop derived).

This is really quite the quaffable brew, especially as it warms a bit. As it warms the roast character becomes a bit more balanced by the sweeter chocolate like maltiness and a mouthfeel that picks up a bit more heft to it. Quite the enjoyable brew, definitely a good beer for this "Arizona chilly" evening.

Aroma of cocoa, coffee and a slight roast malt. Pours dark brown with a medium white head. Taste is roasty and dry. Coffee, dark chocolate, and sweet beer backing it up. Great porter.

12 oz bottle, dark brown appearance, almost black.minimal head. Aroma is very faint and malty with some roasty nuttiness. Taste is very well balanced between sweet and bitter. Fully body, active on the palate, nice mildly bitter almost sweet chocolate aftertaste. Just a very well done porter.

I am especially fond of porter beer and Bell’s is not a disappointment. Long known in the southwest area of Michigan, Bell’s brews a lot of different styles of beer and I think they hit their peak with this porter. Just an excellent beer.

Dark fruit notes in the nose. Flavor or mild chocolate and caramel. Realtively smooth finish. Solid offering.

Very dark brown, almost pitch black, with some light shining through. Creamy and bubbly tan head, about half a finger thick. Moderate lacing and retention. Light aromas of roasted malt, some alcohol and faint coffee-like scents. All very light, noticeable by sniffing very attentively. Not bad. Nice mouth full of chewy roasted malt and other dark flavors, very light as the style usually dictates. Light body with lots of carbonation. Solid porter, nothing wowing, but porters are not supposed to be. Light but tasty, very satisfying and flavorful without being too light.

Dark block with thick white fluffy head. Aroma of light smoke and chocolate/coffee. Light and smooth. Very tasty easy drinking porter. I could drink this all day! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours oil black. Thin body for a porter. Slight bitterness. Roasted taste. Some coffee, not much chocolate.

Pours black with small head aroma of chocolate grape.. Taste is malty nutty raisen..good stuffs

Tastes like a mouthful of dirty raisins, but not as bad as you'd think. Pours jet black, no head.

355ml bottle from knightly spirits. FL VC #8. brown tan head. nice dark malt, lightly smokey, well hopped. a touch thin, but a solid session porter.
