Pours an opaque dark mahogany with an inch of tan colored foam that persists as lace. The bouquet is subtle and sweet. The liquor is medium-bodied and sweet as well and with a short finish. The notes are of vanilla and dark malts without being aggressively so. Easy-drinking porter.

So glad to have found the notes on this one. Most of the time, this was poured into a pint glass but I have also had it in a mug sometimes. There wasn’t any noticeable differences. The appearance was a gentle hazy dark brown color with a slight edge leaning towards black. The head was about a finger’s worth of white to off white level foaminess. There was an ample amount of foaminess. The smell had a nice roasty coffee to a fairly decent dried cocoa powder aroma embracing an eloquent yet light bitter to sweet goodness all around. The taste was mainly sweet but had enough kick from roasted coffee notes. The aftertaste was mildly sweet and enticingly bitter to lead to dry light coffee finish. On the palate, this one sat right at a medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was right on par for the Porter style. Overall, when I lived in Michigan years ago, this was almost always a go to of having after a nice cool evening salmon fishing trip in Autumn. This more than solid brew makes me miss Michigan and the great fishing I was able to partake in.

Delicious beer. Poured from a bottle into a wine glass at The Cheese Shop in Williamsburg. Small head, rich dark brown color, nice espresso flavoring, creamy and somewhat hoppy.

Dark brown, near black. Chocolate malt on the nose. Taste- roasted malt with notes of milk chocolate and brown sugar. Balanced with ample bittering hops. Creamy, well balanced and drinkable porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Lagunitas mason jar From: Bine & Vine Bottleshop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $2.19 Purchased: June 6, 2014 Consumed: June 6, 2014 Misc.: Packaged on April 3, 2014 Poured an almost pitch black color with two fingers of khaki-tan head, which settled along nicely on the top. Very good amount of spiderweb, layered lacing along the sides of the glass. Fantastic retention on the top of the glass all the way down. Smelled caramel espresso malts. Also toffee, roasty nuts, buttery malts, dark chocolate, caramel fudge and faint coffee beans. Tasted dark chocolate, crayon, smoky fire, almost ashtray, bitter coffee notes, roasty nutty malts, slight butter malts and a bit of burnt toast. Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. A pretty good porter overall. Not my favorite, but probably better than most. I’d have it again.

Pours black with brown hues with a one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, sweet malts, molasses, and some light grassy hops. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, medium finish. Overall, a pretty nice porter that on the lighter side of the style spectrum.

One of my absolute favorite porters, and I love my porters. Very smooth, malty, and rich. The finish stays with you (and I'm glad it does).

Pours dark but a little color shows through. Head is very light tan that lingers. Chocolate upfront, with roasted malts and coffee at the end. Not too much coffee. Not too heavy of a porter. It seems a bit more like a strong brown ale than some porters, except for the finish. Medium carbonation. Not too bad of a porter. Easy drinking.
