eccentric day 2004 draft. gorgeous ruby, thin white-pink head. smells like the last raspberry of the season, just picked off the vine--dry as hell, literally vaporizes on your tongue. just like licking a raspberry, leaves your tongue feeling exactly like you had just rubbed a raspberry on it. there is alcohol in this??

festival tap: I admit that I walked to the front of the line to get this! Cloudy red with a huge raspberry and strawberry nose. Sour cherry flavor. One dimensional but refreshing. Real fruit flavor but I still think it has cherries in it as well.

A nice foray in the fruit beer category for Bell's -- although, with the Eccentric, they might have done that long ago. Nice haziness and some amber over tones. Vibrant tartness (agree with others that the flavor did often come off as "cherry"). This beer would be wonderful in the summer, but was a little like a fish out of water in the middle of winter.

I feel like PsychProf. On tap Eccentric day 2003. rating 301. Nice tasting ale but I thought it tasted much more like cherries than it did like raspberries. Very tart and a lot of carbonation. Nice beer though. It smelled of raspberries and was a very nice drink. It poured with a nice white head and was extremely tart after testing the Eccentric Ale. Nice change of pace though.

2003 Draft at Eccentric Cafe. Light cloudy pink with a nice pinkish white head. Has a very tart raspberry aroma with lots of yeast. Opens up with a medium-dry raspberry flavor (surprise!) and some dry yeast flavors work their way in as well. Has a hint of vanilla on the palate and a slight touch of very dry cream-like malt flavoring, though it is only a glimpse. Wow, if they only would have added more of this malt flavor, this beer would be a champion. Stays very tart and ends dry and mildly sour. I was very pleased to find this beer not sickeningly sweet as I find many other fruit beers to be. Well made beer. Medium-light body is not terribly impressive, but flavor is real enough. Obviously lacking in malt.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2009 Draft, at the Eccentric. Don’t know why I kept trying all the raspberry beers as I pubcrawl across Michigan, but here’s another. Opaque pink color looks like one of those candles in a wine glass. A more tart finish than other Raspberry beers, and a little less of a “wine cooler” taste... but not much less. Some malt works its way through, as well.

Weird looking beer with a unfiltered faded red hue and a small fizzy pink head which produced good lace. Aroma is raspberry, earthy yeast and toasted malt. Taste is very tart initially bit mellows out to a smooth mild ale finish. A bit too one-diminsional. Thin-bodied and watery. As the woman next to said "a chick beer".

Damn Michael, I did see the Texan alien pair - what the heck were you wearing? I grant you the run of your imagination on this brew - there are some citrus and ester stirrings in the deep swirls, but they are subdued by the too razbry.

On tap at Bell’s on Eccentric Day. A fruity darkish cloudy concoction. Delightful. Almost wheaty, or is that my imagination running away with me? Hey, I liked it, but I was standing next to the Texan-Hatted Alien guy. Wouldn’t you?

Very pretty appearance. Aroma is almost dance-recital cutesy. This is definitely a fruity beer. It’s not as artificial a taste and aroma as the lotion from those bath stores at the mall, but I’d still rather have my organic raspberries NEXT TO my beer than in it. I guess it’s not bad as fruit beers go.
