4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Brigadier (2240) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - AUG 19, 2012On tap
This guest tap was part of the pre-GTMW takeover at Maduro. I am glad I got there somewhat early because it did not take long to kick. A great sour, this beer is something for not only the sourhead but anyone who wants to try world class releases.
Aroma / Appearance - The deep ruby red body is thick and looks almost like a glass of grapefruit juice. Tart raspberry jam and a dry acidic aspect remind me of a good frambois. The diference is the intensity which isn’t quite so heavy.
Flavor / Palate - Raspberries and tart vinegar steal the show. Halfway through the sourness takes center stage. While not as strong as older vintages of La Folie or true lambics it does have a bite. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BBB63 (5411) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - FEB 22, 2013
Backlogged rating: Pinkish hue with a lively head. The aroma has notes of raspberries and vinegar sourness with some biscuity malts and slight band-aid. The taste is rather straight forward sourness and fruity notes supported by light malt notes. A touch of barnyard as well. The mouth feel is lively and sharp, watery. Better than The Wild One but still seems simple and not complex like the better sour’d brews.

On tap @ the brewpub. Looks like cranberry juice, a pink-ish red color. Taste is very tart, sour raspberry. By no means poorly done, just not really my style.

Dark raspberry red, no head. Aroma of sweet/tart/sour raspberries with a touch of lactic acid. Flavor is tart and sour yet dark and candy sweet with some raspberry fruitiness and woody acidic sour yeast.

Draft sample at FoBAB 2012. Pours a hazy reddish purple brown with a small fine pinkish head. The aroma is raspberry, oak, tart, acidic. The flavor is much of the same; nice fresh raspberries, oak, Brett, tart. very solid drinker with a dry finish.

Bottle at Fobab 10. Pours a pinkish color with a pinkish mousse on top. The nose is distinct raspberry skin, soft brett and a lactic sourness. Fresh and clean. On tasting, medium acidity with a tannic rush of raspberry. Cream and refreshing, this one. A vast improvement over the last time I had regular wild one with the fruit really making this pop. Great stuff.

Fobab #13
Pours a dark, almost purple color with a small head.
The aroma is fresh raspberries and light earthiness with some mild funk. Lots of fruit in the nose of this one, very pungent.
The flavor is fruity with seedy fresh raspberry character. Tart and sour, dry but not especially so. Not really any vinegar going on here.
Nice freaking beer man.
