On tap at bells 9/24/12.... The Lemon verbena comes out well in the aroma. Flavor is some horse blanket with lemon....kind of turns more to an apple flavor towards the end. Smooth drinker...not really my speed but pretty good

Draft at the eccentric cafe. I was intrigued by the description given but it was weird. Kind of cider and sour.

Tap. Aroma of lemon, yeast, light malts, hint of farmhouse yeast funk, mellow overall. Golden pour, white head, average lacing. Lemon dominates the flavor, also some other citrus contributions, light./medium bitterness, touch of bready and toasty malts. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Sampler pour on tap at the Eccentric Cafe (Kalamazoo, MI). Rich deep golden orange hue, amber glow, deeper hues, no real glow, deeper summer twilight glow with a small frothy whitish head dies to a smaller film, laces small. Aromas are gentle apple, fruit, and some richer lemon, lemongrass, and earth. Gentle spice, coolness, with some good herbal qualities. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a ton of lemongrass, earth, florals, and some herbal elements. Touches of fruit, more lemongrass. Spicy herbal lemongrass flows into a touch of fruit, touch of ABV like heat, with gentle lemon, lots of grass, earth, mellow bitterness and dryness grow into the backend. Some fruit, apple and lemon, herbal quality hangs around into the back and finish. This is an odd one, the Lemon Verbana really kinda swallows up the nuance of whatever the Saison base was. A bit messy, I don’t love the lemongrass dominance. Meh. It looked quite nice. Reminds me of some of those odd Belgian treatments at RB:Yorktown towards the end of Tim Marshall’s reign there. Odd.

Tap. Amber with small head. Herby lemon, slightly sweet. Light on funk. Smooth and very unique.

Draft. Poured a clear dark copper color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate applesauce fruit, grass and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where exceeded.

On tap at Eccentric. Pours a deep gold with little head and aromas of apple juice. That’s about it on the nose. Flavor is a little harsh (with heavy boozy notes), apple sweetness and a little grass and herb in the finish. It’s alright, but I had hoped for a little more punchiness from the lemon verbena.
