3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft @ the source. Dark amber with tan head. Aroma is piney and tropical, with caramel undertones. Hint of spice. Flavor is unabashedly bitter. Dry throughout. The rye lends a kick of dark spice. Real good, but not my favorite ale from Bell’s by a margin.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap: Amber-ish, copper color with a red-like tint, cloudy but not opaque. A thin khaki film quickly traverses to a collar. Aroma of grapefruit flesh, candied orange peel, sweet caramel malt, a touch of resinous pine needles, & a bit of melon on the back-end. Taste starts with more of the moderate bitter pine & hop oil with melon, grapefruit, & orange peel that comes rushing in mid-palate. Toasted, nearly burnt bready notes with some sweet caramel, dry yeast, & just a mild kiss of spiciness from the rye that hits the palate after the swallow. This is almost more of a red ale & rye ale hybrid than an "IPA", but it was pretty damn tasty nonetheless.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On draught at Gallo’s Tap Room. Dark amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy hops, caramel malt and slight citrus. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
