Draft at the brewery. Pours a bright clear amber color with a nice thick white head that lingered. Very piney hop aroma with some flowers, tropical fruit and caramel malt. Taste is great. Fresh pine and tropical fruit taste, great caramel malt backbone. Awesome IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Malty red ale type aroma with a touch of hops in the background. Pretty light red color with a sizable off white pillow of foam. Also tastes like a red ale, only with some earthy hops in the aftertaste, but not much. Palate is more fizzy than expected, but substantial and not at all watery. I was excited to try this, but it left me a bit underwhelmed. Not bad, not great either.

It pours clear reddish bronze with an off white head. The aroma has rich toasty caramel malt, tropical fruit, berries and floral hops. It has a medium body with quite a bit of carbonation. The taste is like the aroma but there is some spice and pine hops in the mix. Pretty will balanced and tasty.

Bellís Red IPA is just as heavily hopped as West Coast style red ales, but is a bit more approachable thanks to a generous malt bill and a dose of honey. Amber color. Hoppy aroma. Roundhouse presents the honey sweetness at the front of the mouth on the tip of the tongue and hard palate. The resinous hops take over from there, mostly with a bitter pine needle note, but thereís also some pine sap sweetness in there. The hops make this beer lively, but it has a rich, hearty feel which makes it seem bigger than the stated 7.5%. Thereís just the right amount of honey here. Enough to be noticed, not so much as to clash with the earthy, herbal bitterness.

Draught at Bell's Eccentric Cafe, Kalamazoo, MI. Clear deep mahogany color with a small light tan head. Really fresh and intense fruity hoppy aroma with mild bitterness, some sweetness and balancing maltiness. The flavor is also fresh but closer to a conventional red ale which ain't my true calling. Moderate bitterness, woody and malty dryness, caramel sweetness and bready notes. I can drink this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Red with a bit of orange amber and peach-pink (I like em redder), from can-7.5%. Aroma is good Bells hop aroma with pine and citrus, spicey (as in hot/peppery-not the belgiany spice) resin. Malts, dry toasted caramel-candied malts. Same in taste, bit of dry alcohol-heat, likely from using honey. Dry alcohol almost hot finish (honey-dries it out). with dry med- dark semi sweet sharp caramel malt taste but mild medium on the palate. Citrus pine mellow bitter. As a red ipa or what YOU would like to call it, its above average, great aroma but could be a bit better(2 weeks from packaging) still great, and the taste falls short of what I like about a red ipa, but not by far. Has some juiciness. Could end up liking this more through the sixer. Certainly is not an amber, its more of an ipa with a bit more sharp dry caramel- maybe I like a bit more malt character in a red ipa. I guess the pale red/orange hue would suggest its at the beginning of the amber spectrum from the ipa edge.

On tap at Uncle Mikes in Kenosha. Cooper reddish pour with a beige head. Nose has sweet malts, pine, citrus. Taste is tangy fruits, sweet malts. Some chewy resin. Medium bodied, little alcohol, the blend is fair, but not great. Lowly carbonated, finishes tangy sweet. Decent "red" ipa. 13.6

32oz growler pours out with a clear deep copper body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up malty sort of crystal malts with some candy like fruity hops flowing into a sweet plum sensation. The taste delivers sweet soft malts and then quickly moving into sweet fruity hop flavor thatís candied grapefruit and tangelo flavored hard candy. It becomes vaguely bitter with hops to midway but then the array of sweetness drowns it out into the finish.

64 oz. growler. Havenít had this in years. Deep amber. Big off-white head. Smells of amber malts. Rye. Grapefruit hops. Tastes hoppier than it smells. Also sweeter than it smells. Grapefruit hops. Sweet caramel malts. Strong spicy rye finish. Medium to medium heavy. Creamy body. Really nice with an excellent rye flavor.

Tallahassee, Fl - Momoís Pizza - on tap. Cloudy dark orange pour, thickish off-white colored head. Aroma has some juicy fruit gum accents, a hint of spruce. Full-bodied flavor with some toffee sweetness, a touch of citrus bitterness, some Christmas spice hints and a wee bit of booziness. Nice, rich, thick mouthfeel.
