COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An abundance of rye grains provide a spicy twist to otherwise traditional stout flavors. A unique approach to an entirely new style of stout.

Bottle: Very dark brown in color with a thin, creamy tan head. Aroma is a nice blend of roast and earthiness. Seemingly dry and reminds me of fresh wheat bread. Solid flavor profile is deep with roasted malts, toasted nuts, and a very light amount of bittersweet cocoa. Very well balanced. Different, but I was expecting something different too... Enjoyable for sure.

Awesome stout from Bell’s. Pours a dark black with just a thin creamy layer of froth. Alcohol and coffee grounds is noticeable on the nose. Taste is really unique, has a dryness present all throughout the beer. Roasted and toasted, dark chocolate, and very earthy. A really cool beer, and an interesting take on the style."

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>OhioDad, thanks Scott. Black in colour, rich creamy beige head, good retention, great lacing. The aroma is smoky, very light traces of rye bread, dark chocolate. The flavour is of dark chocolate, black coffee, some smoke, dark rye bread, great roast. Creamy bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a moderate bitterness, chalky. Very nice all-round beer, quite enjoyable.

Batch #7235.

bottle. Pours a respectable black hue with traces of red and a khaki head. The aroma is strong of rye and coffee, but also a semi-vegetal note that I noticed in their porter as well. The flavor is certainly cleaner with rich chocolate becoming known alongside some firm coffee flavors. The rye definitely makes things a little interesting by adding a slightly bitter side to the mix. Nice beer, but Bells makes a few stouts superior to this one.

Bottle from after4ever. Pours a clear blackish brown with a thin off white head. Some rye shows up in the nose, along with coffee and chocolate. Medium-light body and mild carbonation. Coffee, caramel and fruit in the taste leading to a crisp finish. Sort of the robust porter of the stout world.

Bottle: Black pour with a decent tan head. The aroma was a lot of rye with some underlying spicyness to it. Flavor was similar. Medium bodied stout.

Generous sample on at Carrboro Beverage Company. Dark brown pour, lighter than their other stouts, with thinner beige head. Chocolate malts and roasty characters, but a spicy rye hit as well. A different beer, but not a knockout.
