Pours a deep dark brown mahogony black, topped by about an inch of deep tan foam. Good head retention and lacing. I can’t get over this aroma - to me it smells like Raisin Bran cereal still in the box - grain, bran, and those tiny tartly dried and subsequently sugared raisins.
Dry rye and bitter cherry pit flavor combines with a bittersweet chocolate and a roasted grain flavor. Perfect. Medium body, prevelant and silky smooth carbonation

The rye adds so much of a great spicy note to the dark, roasted, chocolaty flavors of this beer. Unique and really good.

The rye adds a deep earthy aroma to the nose, the color is black and the head voluminous, beige in color, the lace is thick upon the glass. Start is grainy, the middle moderate as is the carbonation, the finish dry and some what hop spicy. Excellent beer, another winner in my eyes.

What is with the sketches of old men on Bell’s Kalamazoo Stout and this one? Are old men the only ones who drink stout?
The only stout I didn’t find compelling from Bells was the Double Cream Stout I had about 2 years ago. I am not a stout fan at all. The only stouts I care for are usually fruit stouts (Bell’s Cherry and Dark Horse Tres are quite fantastic) and Imperial Stouts. I am just not a fan of that roasted malt flavor.
This beer is quite amazing, however. It looks like your typical stout with about a half inch of beige/tan foam in a 12-oz pint glass. The smell is what is so awesome, though; it smells like rye toast. Flavor is spicy rye, carmelly molases and some chocolate. Just a hint of roasted malt, but not like you notice that up front. Just fantastic. Thanks to CFP for sharing a bottle!

Very good. A bit like their spiced stout but smoother and dryer.

I agree with funk, EXTREMELY tasty but alittle dryer and bit less exotic than bell’s other stouts. But still an excellent addition to bells beloved 10 stouts of november

Cute Jewish woman adorns the bottle that screams New York and rye bread.
Opaque liquid topped by fluffy tan head. Thin lacing that’s almost nonexistent.
Rich chocolate smell with roasted ground coffee aroma floating around in the glass. As the brew warms up, a slight alcohol smell comes through.
Delicious rich stout taste. Lots of roasted flavor and malty sweetness but it seems the cute old Jewish lady has let me down. Where’s the rye taste that the name and label bring me to expect?
This is a great beer with good carbonation and an enjoyable feel. Please come south, Bell’s. We need you down here.

A spicy flavor with a little bit of coffee in the aftertaste. Nice job Bell’s
