COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An abundance of rye grains provide a spicy twist to otherwise traditional stout flavors. A unique approach to an entirely new style of stout.

Bottle from the CheeseMan, thanks! Deep dark brown color, opague. Rye bread and chocolate milk in the aroma and flavor. Sweetish, malty and bready. Hints of roast and ash. Well balanced, smooth stout.

The first rye stout that I’ve had. Very interesting. The rye imparts a somewhat spicy and non-stout like flavour, but it seems to work well. It’s on the sweeter side of stouts as well.

Glass at the brewpub. Almost blavk with a thin ring. Dark fruitbinbthe aroma. Thete is some coffee and maybe dark fruit. It was served too cold and might take time to warm. Rye is a subnote but dfinitely adds. Some espresso. That chocolate grows with warming. This is very good but I am not quite blown away. Almost, though.

Pour is appropriately black. Very little head, but still attractive. The aroma is slightly roasty with a good amount of smooth chocolate. The flavor has just a touch of spiciness that I thought wasn’t normal for a stout. However the rye is masked and I doubt I would have noticed if I didn’t know what I was looking for. still a very good stout.

Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of malts, chocolate, rye, and light roasting. Poured dark brown in color with a huge, foamy, creamy, brown head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Very good lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malts, chocolate, roasting, rye, and a hint of espresso. Medium body. Creamy, lightly thick texture. Soft carbonation. Chocolate, rye, and malt, finish is slightly sweet, lightly bitter, and slightly dry.

Black with little head and a dusty, grainy sweet nose. Nice clean malt taste with dark, bitter chocolate. Very smooth mouthfeel.

Black, virtually no head. Big rye bread/toast aroma, with a note of coffee in the background. Rye bread, chocolate, a touch of smoke, perhaps a touch of whiskey. Surprisingly clean, and lighter bodied than i expected, which seem to work well here. Thanks to Springslicker for this one!
