COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An abundance of rye grains provide a spicy twist to otherwise traditional stout flavors. A unique approach to an entirely new style of stout.

Bottle thanks to Tsotsi. Pours a dark brown with a small light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, a touch of coffee, sweet malt. Flavor of sweet roasted malt with a touch of spice although I can’t really say that the rye is very prominent. Pretty tasty overall (although I was hoping for just a little more). 7/4/8/4/14[ 3.7/5]

(Sample Date: 11/7/2009 Source:Once Apon a Vine - Northside) 12 oz bottle. Roast and chocolate up front in nose with coffee and caramelized sugar in the background. Clear almost black with small dark tan head. Roast and chocolate in flavor with some spicy (rye) notes and almost a hint of woodiness. Lots of chocolate toffee flavor especially in the finish. Finish is medium sweet with a light spicy bitter finish. Excellent.

12 oz bottle. Another great brew from Vince. Pours black with a thick foamy head that forms from a hard pour and quickly fades to a ring. Aroma of chocolate, dark rye bread, and some roasty smokey malt. The flavor is more dark rye bread with some bitterness from the roasted grains, no alcohol taste at all. The body is fullish with some help from the rye but not as full as I would have thought, mild carbonation and a thick smooth mouth feel. This is an interesting beer, I don’t remember having anything quite like it. The rye adds a nice dimension to the body and flavor. Thanks again Vince.

12oz bottle. Pours black with a head that slowly dissipates over time. Caramel and chocolate taste and aroma. Hints of fruit and burn/roasted flavor as well.

Bottle. Pours an almost black color, looks more brown to me with some reddish notes in the bottom of the glass. It has so much sediment that you can’t see through it. The head is small and tan. Aroma is of roasted malt, a mix of milk and dark chocolate, coffee and a decent of amount of rye bread notes. Flavor is of rye bread, roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, slight amount of hop bitterness and some slightly earthy notes. Body is medium to full, with a sliky smooth and slightly dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty good Stout, love the rye notes.

Bottle shared by Jordan. Pour is dark with minimal tan head. Nose is rye and roasted malt, a little on the weak side. Flavor is smooth and slightly sticky with rye, roastiness going on, and a very slight sour note that seemed to dissipate as it warmed. Not a bad offering, I managed to get through two, a rare occurrence for me.
