3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ante (3375) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - NOV 3, 2006
Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Almost black with a low dissapearing beige head. Slightly spicy aroma with notes of toasted malts, biscuit, marzipan and black coffee. Grainy flavour of coffee, mild spices and biscuit. Mild but long aftertaste of fresh, grassy hops, coco-powder, biscuit, all-spice and black coffee. A really interesting stout (as usual from Bella). Quite complex but could be more concentraded....
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ross (1874) - weddington, North Carolina, USA - SEP 9, 2006
Bottle from Sean. Black color without much of a head at all. Smell is spicy, roasted, coffee, chocolate, and hints of rye. Taste is sweet and spicy with a little bit of a thin body, but it makes good for a smooth stout. Very unique, kind of sweet, and a nice winter warmer type beer. Not half bad actually.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 15, 2010
Bottle: Poured a deep pitch-black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light peat notes. Taste is very particular with some good peat notes and deep roasted malt. Body is quite full with a very nice creamy texture and good carbonation. Very singular since I am not used to rye being used in a stout but still very interesting.

I can not think of any brewer that makes such a wide array of good and interesting stouts as this one does. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a very small brown head. The aroma was spicy , roasty and had a coffee element. The mouthfeel is fairly thick and smooth. The flavor was roasty, toasty and spicy with a peppery rye element. The finish was bitter caramel. Quite interesting.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jasonp (1556) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - AUG 7, 2006
Pours black with ruby edges and a quickly fading light brown head. Mocha, smoke along with a sour/ashy character in the nose. Tasty - sweet caramel, roasted malt, chocolate, mocha, light smoke and a pleasant slight touch of sourness. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Pretty good stuff.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 17/20 IPAndy (120) - minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 13, 2006
From bottle, batch #
Aroma: spicy, coffee, bread
Appearance: black, inch tall head dissipates quickly, no lacing, no hop aroma
Flavor: started it cold, has roasted malt/coffee with little rye at all. As it warms, starts to get a porterish sour maltiness that makes you pucker(pleasant). Further along, some vinegar (unpleasant)
Palate: medium body, dry finish, fizzy carbonation that dies down quickly
Overall: very good, although not really sure what its niche would be. in a lot of ways, it tastes like a session beer, but a little high abv and the sourness nudge it away from that category. not full bodied or flavorful enough for a big, special occasion beer.

Draft at Hopcat RBSG. Pours a deep brown black with tan head. Nose is spicy with notes of caraway and anise as well as pumpernickel and chocolate. Light hop notes come through as well. I get a bit of cocoa though not much of a strong roast presence. On taste, more cocoa and rye breadiness with a slightly astringent finish due to the rye that is present. Interesting stout that is a nice addition to the line from Bells.
