COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An abundance of rye grains provide a spicy twist to otherwise traditional stout flavors. A unique approach to an entirely new style of stout.

That torn looking old woman/man on the bottle biased me slightly against this one. That picture is just depressing! The uniqueness is in its aroma and flavor are the sourness. A mild roastedness is present from start to finish as well. A great stout, just not as shocking as I expected. Maybe thats why the person on the bottle seems so disappointed.

Hazy dark brown color - almost no head at all. Aroma of roasted coffee, hints of rye bread and raisins. Flavor is roasty and slightly sweet, notes of rye, roasted nuts, caramel and a bit of sweetness. Very little bitterness. Dry, clean and slightly resiny finish

They just keep coming and coming. Another deep dark pour from the boys at bells. Thick roasted nose that evolves into a rich body with a touch of sourness in the flavor. There is the typical roastedness to the flavor but a sharpness also that makes this quite interesting. Thanks hopsrus for another good one.

Batch 7235: Pours a fairly viscous opaque with a lightly-lacing tan head. Aroma of earthy rye and some faintly burnt black malt. Body starts semi-sweet with a touch of caramel malty flavor, lots of toasty rye and a lingering earthy roasted finish with hints of smoke. An interesting and enjoyable stout. I have a old bottle of this that I’ll have to try soon.

bottle. deep dark brown, near black body with a small brown head that quickly fizzes away. smells of coffee, bread loaf, and maybe some grape lingering in the back. creamy smooth body with bread and chocolate flavours. quite rich and delectable as it warms with no apparent bitterness. bought at The Beer Depot in Ann Arbor.

12oz bottle-This is one of the bells stouts that i have been dying to try for years now. Finally, this beer arrived in the St Louis area. dark brown with a small very tight kacki head. chocolate, hazelnut, burnt malt (black patent) and some spicy caracter akin to dark pumpernickel bread, chocolate, light char, anise dominate the flavors. body is a little on the light side, but the flavors are well distributed. Could be a porter to alot of people, at least body and appearance wise. finish is chocolate and light roast. I definately like it, but from what people have told me, its not as good as when it was produced 4-5 years ago.

Dark brown. The aroma has hints of coffee & roasted nuts. It’s hard to describe precisely what the rye adds here, but it’s definitely in the mouthfeel
