COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An abundance of rye grains provide a spicy twist to otherwise traditional stout flavors. A unique approach to an entirely new style of stout.

Pours absolutely opaque black. Brownish tan foamy head, little lace. Aromas of coffee, toasty malt, chocolate, smoke, alcohol, and chocolate. Flavor was predominantly smoky malt, with coffee, earth, peat, alcohol, and just a hint of rye. Well-tempered hop bitterness. Nice thick, chewy mouth.

bottle courtesy of someone, can’t remember. great brew, pours a very, i mean very thick black. the carbonation comes out of it like really overused motor oil. aroma is full of roasty rye, coffee and malt. unique combo of flavors blended seemlessly. this would be amazing out of a barrel.

Black pour with medium-sized tan head than dissipates quickly with no lacing. The aroma is entirely.... hmmmmm..... rye toast (talk about a beer that smells exactly as you would expect). Flavor is of (you guessed it) rye bread with hints of milk chocolate and some roastiness. Great chewy, bread-like texture. Wonderfully unique stout.

Bottled on 2-9-06, batch 7235. Notes from a 1-9-07 rating. Big coffee taste and a spicy rye finish. Very creamy mouthfeel but a fairly light body. Very complex, yet very good.

2009 Bottle, Batch 9370 - Thanks mibirder! - Pours an opaque dk brown with a large tan head...aroma is roasty and woody, cocoa and plum, with a pronounced graininess...flavour is similar, sweet caramel malt, coffee, a great amount of rye taste without becoming one dimensional, finish is somehow a lingering char bitterness, but the mouthfeel is completely sweet...odd brew that I completely enjoyed!

Enjoyed at The 12 Beers of Christmas tapping at Kellehers, Peoria. Dark black pour with a big frothy brown head. Wonderful rye grain aroma. The aroma was inviting. The taste was the same rye goodness that you enjoy in the aroma. It had great lacing. I loved this beer.

On draught at RFD. Deep chestnut brown with a scant white head. Aroma of rye bread with some roasted coffee beans. Very creamy body, almost chewy like a Guinness. Very subtle flavor of dark milk chocolate at first, progressing to a dark pumpernickel, then finishing with a bitter edge. A keeper.
