4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draught at Cypress Street. Black pour. Nice cocoa and roasty aroma with lots of depth. The rye added a welcomed spicy finish to this awesome stout. Up there with Kalamazoo for sure. Super tasty.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampler at brewpub. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves a solid amount of lacing. Not much on the nose. Some decent rye notes on the tongue. The stout element is always solid. Not exciting but definitely drinkable.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
"i thought this would be good, but this was a pleasant surprise, and IMHO better than the kalamazoo stout. the rye contributes to a dry feel and finish, which teams nicely with the roasted malt of the stout. the aroma and flavor are fantasic. the rye is subtle, but because it is, plays a perfect complementary role. very very good beer that just kept getting better as it went. thanks to Kinger for another gem. 3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at Raleigh Rare Beer: the rye always make the beer interesting that is for sure. I do enjoy a rye whiskey occasionally so I dont mind the rye but this isnt for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Bells. Pours dark brown/black with minimal head. Aroma is distinctive rye grain, citrus fruits. Taste is big hit of citrus, rye, smokey tones. Rye is the star and comes out nicely balanced. Delicious.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is roasted malt and rye. Appearance is black with a light brown head. Taste is ok, a bit sweet yet bland, missing the rye badly. Mouthfeel is lighter than I want but not too bad, flavor doesn’t hang. Overall, a rare miss for Bell’s stouts.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2014 Bottle: Deep, deep brown color, mostly opaque with a small, light tan head that’s hard to conjure up, even with an aggressive pour. Aroma is chocolaty with slight coffee notes around it; silky, creamy, kind of sweet, almost like a mocha with some cream & sugar. Taste includes some bittersweet cocoa, heavy coffee mid-palate with that same "cream & sugar" presence - more sweet than not. Back-end hits with a finishing burn of roasted malt, and a very faint touch of spicy rye in the finish. Not much in the hop department. Pretty good stout, but it’s almost more of a sweet/milk stout than a "rye" stout. Expecting some spicy rye, but there wasn’t too much there.
