3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Iíd like this to have a higher overall rating than a 3.5, because I do think itís better than that. But, not much aroma, thin head that receded quickly. Sweet slightly thick flavor, not sure quite where the rye kicks in but itís not your traditional roasty flavor. Pretty darn decent.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at Raleigh Rare Beer: the rye always make the beer interesting that is for sure. I do enjoy a rye whiskey occasionally so I dont mind the rye but this isnt for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Bells. Pours dark brown/black with minimal head. Aroma is distinctive rye grain, citrus fruits. Taste is big hit of citrus, rye, smokey tones. Rye is the star and comes out nicely balanced. Delicious.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is roasted malt and rye. Appearance is black with a light brown head. Taste is ok, a bit sweet yet bland, missing the rye badly. Mouthfeel is lighter than I want but not too bad, flavor doesnít hang. Overall, a rare miss for Bellís stouts.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2013 Bottle: deep, deep brown color, mostly opaque with a small, light tan head thatís hard to conjure up, even with an aggressive pour. Aroma is chocolaty with slight coffee notes around it; silky, creamy, kind of sweet, almost like a mocha with some cream & sugar. Taste includes some bittersweet cocoa, heavy coffee mid-palate with that same "cream & sugar" presence - more sweet than not. Back-end hits with a finishing burn of roasted malt, and a very faint touch of spicy rye in the finish. Not much in the hop department. Pretty good stout, but itís almost more of a sweet/milk stout than a "rye" stout. Expecting some spicy rye, but there wasnít too much there.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle in KC @ JetsonFest III. Thanks to foppa78! Pours a fairly dark brown appearance with a thin, light brown head. Somewhat woody, caramel, slightly charred, a touch fruity aroma. Nice rye, kind of tangy, brown sugar, a bit smoky flavor. Still pretty tasty even though itís just about four years old. Thanks Mat!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to snifter (thanks jmikolich). Looks solid; cola with razor-thin light beige lacing (when swirled) and very little carbonation. Smells solid too; malt and rye. Tastes like it smells with some spiciness (presumably from the rye). Average on the palate with a dry finish. A little thinner than Iíd prefer, but still a solid beer.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle thanks to jmikolich, pours a dark brown/black with no head. Aroma of slight rye, molasses, and chocolate. Smooth texture, with hints of rye spice throughout with a nice not overbearing or harsh roast, sweet chocolate, there is just a hint of bitterness and spice on the finish. Easy drinking, really nice!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I enjoyed this, though I had it along side Black Note, so probably not a fair comparison. I didnít get a huge "rye" flavour here, that element was more subtle than I was expecting. Overall, though, a high quality stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Chocolate and spicy rye nose, roast malts and hints of coffee. Black in color with a tan head, decent retention and nice lacing. Smooth coffee and roast flavors, spicy rye bread and chocolate, low bitterness, great balance, smooth chocolate finish. Medium to full body, silky texture. Nice.
