Beautiful golden hue with just a slight bit of haze. Slight hops in the aroma, flowery, but mostly get the rye. Slight hop flavor to highlight the rye, but the rye is the main show. Bold but not overpowering. Malt and caramel framing the rye. Great beer for rye lovers.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a cloudy orange with a thin film of soapy head. Lemon zest in the nose. A nice light refreshing crispness to the taste, with a little bit of lemongrass and a lot of lemon zest fading into a nicely bitter aftertaste. Great when you want a refreshing beer with substance.

12 oz bottled 3.5 months ago, purchased at John’s Grocery ($1.79) and poured into a pint glass at home. Orange appearance, pretty clear at the bottom, hazy towards the top, some sediment. Frothy, lingering white head, light lacing. Aroma of rye spice, citrus fruits, resinous hops, earth and toasted malts. Similar flavor, medium spicy bitterness, earthy, light malty, minimal sweetness with a crisp, lingering finish. Medium body, pretty dry with average carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 On tap, poured into a stemmed pilsner glass. The initial aroma is a toasted rye, which fades with the head. The aroma is replaced by a lemon citrus note, followed by resin, and finally, as it settles, reaches a tropical fruit aroma. The beer pours a heavily hazy pale (some orange notes) with a generous, whitish, beat-egg whipped head. This head leaves a spider web-like ample head with really good, micro bubble retention. The head left behind is thick enough where the body isn’t visible from the top of the beer. A nice balance is struck between a juicy, medium sweetness, and a dry, medium bitter. The medium body is a bit on the watery / thin side, but there is some creaminess due to the abundant fluffy carbonation. It’s a dry, crisp, clean beer. The front of this one starts with caramel malt, but turns to a grassy, floral, resin-like finish. As it warms a tropical fruit, rye bread, and light citrus flavor comes through. The beer finishes with a light, mellow rye bread and tropical fruit combination that leaves behind a similar aftertaste that kicks off strong, but tapers quickly.

Pours a clear amber with a thick and fairly persistent buff head. Strong aroma has a firm rye component and a note of fresh hay. Sharp rye flavor has a fruity undertone, crisp and enjoyable if simple. Texture has average thickness and fizz. An enjoyable ale.
