COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten Ale began as part of a series of rye beers at our Eccentric Café. The combination of sharp citrus & resinous flavors from the hops with the earthy, rustic overtones of the rye malt contribution yield an interesting take on the American Pale Ale.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, hazy golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grass, biscuit, bread, hints of slight spice with maybe a touch of rye, some hints of white fruit come in as well. Taste is a mix of honey, vanilla, biscuit, bread, slight grain into some spice, rye, grass, finishing fairly dry, slightly bitter.

Good beer with a hop-start and a subtle continuation that melts away. A soft IPA sense which feels light and fresh.

Rye beers can be decent, but this one has too many hops to appreciate the rye. Bottom line - this one is too overhopped to be very enjoyable.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a white head that dissipates quickly but leaves behind traces with decent lacing. Aroma is. Citrus and peppery spice. Taste is bright and citrus with a bit of added darkness from the rye malt. Southfield is smooth and creamy yet doesn’t finish crisp.

Dark gold, clear, decent lingering head. Standard spicy rye nose. Fully bodied hop driven palate, not much else. Decent, not great.

I really liked the earthiness of this brew. It has an ESB essence with a nice malt base. the flavor has a peppery feel, dry and refreshing. Quite tasty.
