I love this rye, citrus, rye!?, dry, hoppy. Citrus in both taste and smell. Delicious.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Golden coloured body, slightly hazy with a thinnish, one centimetre tall white head. Aroma of pale malt, light hops, some citrus and a bit of honey. Light-bodied; Strong rye and malt flavours with a little sweetness, some mild bitterness from hops and a bit of herbal flavours with a hint of sweetness. Aftertaste shows light grain, a bit of yeast, some faint hops and mostly mild yet flavourful rye. Overall, a nice beer that shows some good characteristics while remaining mild - definitely worth a sample during Spring if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Grateful Red in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 02-February-2013 for US$2.37 sampled at home in Washington on 10-March-2013.

Sometimes I think there should be a "Sound" rating, too. Does the little "Pssht!" when opening a bottle put you in the right mood? Anyway:
Color is just a tad darker than the average Golden Ale. There’s a bit of oxidation as I pour. But then a pleasant lightly malty beer smell. Poured gently into the Sam Adams glass, there’s a thick bit of head just before the top flare. And I can better see the murky bits of Bell’s traditionally unfiltered "floaties." Taste is more of an APA than the "Golden Ale" the label says. Still, it’s big and hoppy. Not resiny enough to be called a little brother to a Hopslam, but more bitter with a note of pine. Not a bad idea to have a lighter in alcohol but still hopalicious ale in the arsenal.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
It poured a clear golden/orange color with a small white head. The aroma was of citrus, earthiness and spicy hops. The taste was of lemon, orange citrus, pine, spicy hops and grains. It finished with a medium bitterness and a little juiciness. Good stuff.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden honey with a medium sized off white head. Aroma of earthy notes, hops, citrus , bread malts and light funk. Taste is much the same as the aroma.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a slightly hazy dark orange color with a medium foamy white head. The nose hazy some spicy rye notes, but the primary smell seems to be a little wet dog and wet paper. A little oxidized perhaps? Thankfully it seems to blow off after a bit. The flavor has a light grassy bitterness, a touch of rye, spice, and light floral notes. Medium to full mouthfeel with carbonation on the softer side and a lingering bitterness. Not too bad. Definitely a different take on a pale ale.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma is a bit dry with some floral citrus and rye notes. The appearance golden with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma a bit soapy. The palate is average. Overall not bad but not a favorite.

Has a nice light malty first sip then it hits with a nice punch of astringent. Very floral with a dry rye taste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atlanta Highway) in Athens. Moderate stinky, earthy hop, some frog pond. Very pale straw, a bit hazy, with a 2-cm head. Pepper right from the start / in mid, pepper notes blend well with the hops / finished with bittering tracks and tiny pepper bites. Medium body. Not overdone with the rye. Good, more or less one-dimensional, session stuff.
