COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten Ale began as part of a series of rye beers at our Eccentric Café. The combination of sharp citrus & resinous flavors from the hops with the earthy, rustic overtones of the rye malt contribution yield an interesting take on the American Pale Ale.

Bottle poured into tumbler. Appearance is a hazy golden-orange color. There is a fairly generous eggshell-white head and visible yeast floating around. The aroma is citrus and floral scents. The taste is similar, though more bitter than expected and with a hint of rye. The carbonation seems very light. Not too bad.

Bottle shared with Max, Zdk, and Dallas. Pours a light golden body with white lacing. Aroma is bitter hop, resiny syrup, and skunky pale malts. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with similar notes in the flavor, lots of bitterness, some floral flavors. Overall this clocks in as pretty average, and below the high standard Bells has previously set for themselves.

Pours a hazy slightly dark orange yellowish color with a small white head. Nose is floral, hoppy and zesty citrus. Taste has an initial blast of bitterness with hops and deep citrus, and some sweetness in between. Finish is bitter as well and the citrus hops linger on. Quaff Score 7 / 10

I’m rather smitten with this one. Ha. Pours a light hazy golden with white head and nice lacing. Nice aromas of dank hops, grapefruit and juicy citrus. Bright clean citrus flavours, with some lightly toasted grain notes. Bitter hop finish. Very nice.

tap at 800 degrees in Feb. - Pours hazy yellow-gold with a one finger white head. It has an aroma of citrus, grain, and pale malt. The rye is very apparent in the flavor. It has an earthy character with moderate bitterness and a touch of citrus. Medium bodied, this well balanced beer finishes with some lingering bitterness.
