2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance - Lots of clumps in this beer. Clearly not filtered. Otherwise, a golden color, minimal head.
Aroma - citrus notes, grapefruit specifically
Taste - Pretty heavy bitterness, light malt flavor, citrus hop flavor, and a surprisingly little amount of rye flavor.
Palate - Appropriate levels of carbonation, medium bodied beer.
Overall - Not much rye flavor and the bitterness is too intense. Easily one of my least favorite Bells beers.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle. It has a daisy on the label, which left me surprised when it tasted like an APA seasoned with tobacco and aged in a leather satchel. Appearance is a dark and fizzy yellow. Aroma is mild hops and salt of the earth grains. Taste is an unexpected mix of earth, leather, tobacco, and citrus as second-player contributors. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste of this one. Palate was medium bodied and just right for pale ale. Overall, I’d happily buy a 6 pack of this to bring to a spring picnic. It has the fresh and citrus thing going on for the light-drinking crowd, and a dynamic flavor profile for the more adventurous beer tasters. Definitely worth a try, and I’d love in Kalamazoo, within a week or two of when it hits their tapline, when the hops are in their prime.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very hazy in the glass, with what looked like protein clumps, although my bottle was only about a month old. The head faded quickly and left no real lace. The rye in the aroma is very understated, mostly I picked up on some grapefruit hoppiness. Very little rye in the flavor as well. Pine, citrus hop notes made for a nice IPA like tingle, but nothing really special.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma of some rye, moderate resiny hops and cereal malts. Appearance is golden with foamy white head. Flavor matches the nose, but with a little less rye; the finish has some clean toasty accents. Palate is medium, creamy and very soft. Enjoyable.

Nice head. Orange yellow hue with notes of earthy citrus in scent as well as taste. Refreshing and crisp with a nice rye balance to the finish. All in all a pretty nice golden rye.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a cold Sunday while making some chili. Appearance is a cloudy, lightly dark gold with a thin white head. Aroma has a unique hop profile, citrus and hop resin notes, along with rye malt. Taste goes down citrusy, floral, with a light bitterness. In a way it’s like a less abrasive Two Hearted, but doesn’t really taste like that at all. It’s enjoyable, good Sunday afternoon beer.
