3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3860) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - FEB 1, 2013Bottle: The aroma has a good dose of citrus, cotton candy, light grapefruit, and rye. It pours a mostly transparent golden-orange, but there is quite a bit of sediment that makes it somewhat hazy. It has a two finger off-white head with decent retention and some spotty lacing. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit and a touch of rye. It’s light-medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, I haven’t been a big fan of Rye IPA’s or Pale Ales, but I like this one better than most.

Great rye pale ale. Enough hops to cut the rye. Very well balanced. Like what the rye brings to the pale ale. Very crisp and bright.

P: Cloudy golden orange body with loads of specks and floaters. A whipped creamy off white head that hangs out for a good while.
S: Orange peel and oil, toasted rye, lemon zest, faint peaches, pineapple and earthy notes.
T/M: Spiced orange, toasted rye, sweet malt, honey, and herbal tea. Clean zesty body that leave the palate subtly dry and lingers bitter orange peel and spice.
O: Refreshing and easy drinking porch beer. The hop and malt profile are clean and simple yet play well together. A seasonal ale that doesn’t break the bank.
