COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten Ale began as part of a series of rye beers at our Eccentric Café. The combination of sharp citrus & resinous flavors from the hops with the earthy, rustic overtones of the rye malt contribution yield an interesting take on the American Pale Ale.

Pours a slightly hazy golden with a good white head that diminishes rapidly. Aroma is mostly citrus, with grapefruit, lemon, mango, spices, along with a bit of rye notes underneath. The taste loses much of the enticing citrus impressions. They are still noticed, but instead there is a heavy grainy and skunky flavor that is present and most prominent that isn’t very appetizing. That heavy grainy taste gathers strength after the initial sip throughout the aftertaste. Medium in body, with a rough, bubbly texture. I’m not a fan of this one.

16 oz can at Tasty post bike ride. Suprised it took me this long to try it. Ususally I am a sucker for the rye beers. Nice orange pour, generous head. Rye is definitely there- spice is prominent. Quite bitter (grapefruit pith) at the end. Citrus and pine throughout. Really works, just looses points on the finish for me- slightly off. Price is right- 2$.
