I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste citrus, sweet, lightly hoppy. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

I didn’t like this too much. The rye overpowers the hops in an untasty way. Just not that good

Pours deep gold with thin white head. Just hints of the rye. I also taste a bit of apple before a nice crisp but not overly bitter finish. Very drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the Urban Tavern The ale poured a clear light amber color with a thick white head and lacing. You detect floral citrus and resin on the nose. The taste is more complex with grapefruit bitterness mixed with rye spiciness. The medium body ale had average carbonation. Bitterness builds into into the finish for a bristly conclusion to a simple, easy-drinking swallow.

12oz bottle pours a semi-hazy golden/orange with a large white head. Mild orange citrus aroma with some light rye and malt. Taste of bready caramel malt with rye and hop spice with a solid hop bitterness. Very pleasant pale ale.

Can to pint glass. Citrus, bubble gum and slight perfume. Pours a slight hazy gold with pristine white head that lingers down the glass. Taste is floral with a creaminess in the finish which is quite nice. Well rounded from the rye adding nice mouthfeel.

From site: Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten Ale began as part of a series of rye beers at our Eccentric Café. The combination of sharp citrus & resinous flavors from the hops with the earthy, rustic overtones of the rye malt contribution yield an interesting take on the American Pale Ale.

Can stamped on bottom "01/19/15.
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy golden yellow to orange color with a quickly dissipating one finger white foamy head that left some stringy messy lacing.
The smell had a sharp sweet citrus to piney and grassy hops over top of a light spicy rye malt.
The taste was balanced between the spicy rye malt and light citrus bittering hops. There’s a lingering bitter sharp citrus aftertaste and leads to a decent sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there and good for its style and has a nice lingering bitter to sweet citrus sharpness rolling over my tongue.
Overall, I say, either an APA or a Rye Beer, whatever, let’s call it a very well done blend. I’d definitely have it again.
