TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 25, 2006 Bell’s Sparkling Ale pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color with a tall, thick, rocky white head, and a very vibrant carbonation. This beer is bottle conditioned with a small addition of yeast in the bottle. This allows for a secondary fermentation, that produces more CO2 and alcohol. The nose on this beer is very yeasty and spicy from the use of an authentic Belgian strain. This is paired with some very grassy hop aromas(from dry hopping), and peppery waves of alcohol. The palate is very firm with crip pale malt flavors, yeasty/spicy flavors, and a back drop of pepper. Sparkling ale finishes with more malty/yeasty flavors up front, then end with a very dry, peppery, high octane burn.
This beer is dazzling. Very complex, warming, and soothing, triples make great beers to enjoy in the colder months of the year. They are also excellent apperitif beers, and work well with a number of sea food dishes. This beer is well worth seeking out, and is just one more outstanding beer from one of America’s greatest micro breweries. gdh8888 (5), Lansing, Michigan, USA does not count Oct 24, 2007 Almost perfect. In fact, the only reason I am wavering from a 20 here is that it is impossible to find on tap. Big, complex flavor that packs a punch that sneaks up on you. Not like a sucker punch - you know what I mean. ThroatPoker (1), USA does not count Mar 6, 2008 One of my favorite Bell’s. Not quite as good as St. Bernardus 12, but an interesting interpretation of a Triple. Lots of yeast on the nose with mild spice. Not as creamy as other Belgian Ales, but good none the less. BeerBaron617 (110), Novi, Michigan, USA Jul 19, 2008 First of all, props to my party store literally 3000 feet from my house that continually has seasonal brews from bells and other high end brewers in the middle of summer! This pours a lighter orange/amber color with a very fruity/oaky aroma. Upon tasting, there are subtle banana notes, with lots of malt and deep fruityness. I think I prefer this to a normal Belgian style wheat because of it’s depth of flavor. On a personal note, this is my 10th beer from Bells, and I havn’t had a bad one yet. Cheers!! hopnpop (68), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 21, 2004 A little fruity on the nose. Strong head due to high carbonation. A bit cloudy through its bright golden color. Initial taste is fruity with a strong, fizzy mouthfeel. Aftertaste hints of banana, spice and very good balance. The bottle says alcohol content is 8.2%; suffice to say, it’s well hidden.
